Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Wow, Umps blow call at home and give Red Sox a Win, as Paps should have Blown a 3 Run Lead.
And Lester gets hurt.
Anyway, Yanks and CC won.

Wow, we beat Verlander. Lucky to score one run off of him (courtesy of Joe West). Haren knew he had to pitch his A-game with Verlander opposing, and boy did he go to distance. Best pitcher's duel for an Angel game since the Saunders Greinke matchup two years ago.

Gotta love a walk-off Grand Slam. Tribe are still 3 games up in the loss column and appear to have gotten their act together. Just need to learn how to win on the road now.

Mike Trout makes his debut today. Cool, interesting to see how our number 1 rated prospect does today.

Great call on Baltimore Gun. Shortstop boots double play and instead of 0 runs, Red Sox get 8.

Walk Off by Trumbo!!! Seriously, he is beginning to be a serious threat for Rookie of the Year, but he is not alone in that category. As for Trout, well, he didn't get a hit, but he had some good at bats, and a great play in the 9th.

And Wow, these Pirates are something to talk about. For decades, they've been a joke, but look at them now (only one game out of first place, unbelievable). Clint Hurdle has got to win manager of the year if this keeps up.

Ortiz charges the mound, just because of inside pitches. He is lucky that he doesn't face the cheap shot Boston Pitchers, Beckett, Lester, Paps.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
I'm back everyone, hope all is well, glad too see not much has changed. We are smoking the Os, I'm not going to go back and look the last few pages as nothing has changed and the Sox and Philly are still leading both divisions. I love that Everyone unanimously on ESPN calls Gregg an ass, and Ortiz (One of the most well respected/ mannered players in the league) gets cursed off after 3 95+ Just missing Fast balls and taunted as he flies out is CHEAP and Ortiz's fault? That was awesome though Ortiz blocked a punch and just missed with and Upper Cut and Scuturo was hanging on Gregg's back like a monkey. The O's can't wait to get out of Fenway. And Bravo Grill, but seriously you're going to need a new some new material. It's mid July and the O's haven't been in contention since May. It's not like everyone is going "Oh Great Burn Grill" everytime you mention my outside shot WC prediction. I'm going to talk like Grill for a moment to recap what I missed in the last 3 weeks. Pussy Yankees can't even play in the rain. LOL ING, not that that matters as losses mean nothing, only WINS do, and if we don't get them we will make them up .ARod hurts his leg and needs surgery from slipping on a beer bottle, but who cares, the SOX Fans bitch about their 15 Injuries last year and Arod is better combined so I can. Not that this is relevant but Did I mention New York Dominance even if they haven't for a decade, we have the most 3rd place medals, which is more than the Sox ever will. But Red Sox fans can't see from their blindness of our pinstripes cause of their gayness Everyone else gives a with a while still the whole time AND SCENE I'm not really feeling anymore back and forths for a while. Probably just a few backs from Grill though. I'd rather just talk baseball for at least a month. Scottie, how are you feeling about the Angels, they're looking pretty good as of late.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Sorry Gun but....
Funny you mention the rain, as Beckett hurts his back on wet field.
And still tied with 35 losses each. I am fine with that.
And bragging about the Red Sox playing Baltimore ( not even mentioning the Red Sox easy schedule over the last 15 games)
And I am fine with the Yankees recent past history.
Yankees 2008 - Only missed playoff in like 16 years 2009 - World Championship 2010 - Unset in League Championship Game 2011 - 3rd best Record in MLB amd only 1 Game behind the Red Sox
Red Sox 2008 - Lose to Tampa as defending Champions 2009 - Swept 3-0 in WildCard Round 2010 - No Playoffs 2011 - Not running away from the Yankees as all except me called!

Congrats to Jeter. Hitting Home Run for 3,000 Hit!
1st SS Ever and only 28th Player Ever!
PS. I wonder what will happen to the ball, caught by a fan in left field!

And Gun, since you never respond with back-up, when I requested. Espn, Baseball Tonight Video, tells a different story! Which is the 1st one I look at when searching. Note, the pitching inside which is what you have to do. And Blame was placed on both. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=310708102PS. I like the second video, Paps and Beckett complaining about pitching inside. Wimps, as both of them do that also!

And unlike Gun, who at least offered congrats, you seem alittle bitter. Anyway, catching Wagner who did it in the 1910s isn't a big deal!

I am not bitter, I just found no reason to congratulate somebody here since I doubt Jeter is reading these boards. I have nothing against Jeter he is one of the few Yankees I respect. Still, don't consider him the greatest Yankees of all time, I would still put him behind Gehrig, Ruth, and maybe DiMaggio. Besides I bet you would never congratulate any Red Sox :p

For Starters: Babe Ruth, Manny Ramirez, Bill Buckner, Roger Clemens, Wade Boggs, Johnny Damon, Bobby Ojeda, Sparky Lyle. Happy! I guess I won the bet easily.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
What a Dodger Game/Win.
Padres have a No Hitter going into the 9 in a 0-0 game. While the Dodgers only gave up 1 hit.
So on to Extra inning for the No Hitter? Nope as Dodgers win 1-0 on 2 straight hits in the 9th!
Almost as good as the game in Yankee Stadium today, when Jeter got his 3,000 hit on a homer, and also went 5-5 and had the game winning hit? Talk about a great day!

Hey Gun, How are you feeling about the Yankees, they're looking pretty good as of late! Just wondering if you or your so called experts are convinced yet that the Yankees are going to make it through the season, as now I think they have a 5 game lead in the WildCard.... and still tied with the Red Sox, 35 losses each!

Nobody questioned whether the Yankees would make it through the season. And Red Sox have two more wins... so... not tied.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Nice sweep of the Mariners.
To Answer theguns question, yes, the Angels are getting hot. Early in the year, it was a four team race, but now it looks like a two team race (Angels and Texas). It could be anyone's to win, Texas may have a better offense, but their starting pitching is spotting at best. Our rotation is on fire, with all of our ERA's under 4, but as long as the offense stays consistent with this power surge, it will come down to head to head games.
