Heat would be like HOLY SHIT THANK YOU THANK YOU. I don't think it's near true to be honest.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
So far this season Cavs have won 2 out of 3 against the Celtics. I luv to see what would happen if they meet in the playoffs. Would James take em out like he did the Pistons or would the Celtics just steamroll them.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
All three games were somewhat close. If the Celtics had Garnett tonight they probably would've won since they lost by only a point. Their defense also would've played much better. But yeah, it would make for an intriguing series.

Actually the more I think of it, I guess it's not that bad for the Suns. There weren't winning with this lineup... might as well do something, bringing in an ultimate winner. Gasol's trade was worse.
But still, WTF. If you told me this morning Shaq was getting traded for Marion... I would've laughed at you

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
If that gets completed, the Heat just made the best move possible. They have to get younger and that's a step in the right direction. As for the Suns, I don't see it meshing too well. Shack, your first thought was right on the money. He'll be 36 one month from today. He has a left hip problem. His body, thanks to his size, is rapidly deteriorating. I guess he'll help the Suns inside game, but he won't even be close to the force he was on defense. This helps for one year, but it won't put them over the top.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
After thinking through it.
I think it's a GREAT trade for both parties.
Shaq will get some time to get healthy. He will be playing with less pressure on him to score, as the Suns score A LOT. He will get a TON of defensive/offensive rebounds, a place where the Suns SUCKED. And he gets a new head coach who will work with his specialties.
Also, the Suns players really haven't been getting along with Marion lately. And Shaq is a fun guy and will bring the fun back into the locker room.
But I don't like seeing Banks go. He's a better Eddie House.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
I don't think it's as bad of a trade as some people say it is for Phoenix. I can imagine a pick and roll with Nash and Shaq should be pretty hard to guard, and then you have Stoudamire there too. If Shaq stays healthy, they'll be good.
And, Shaq is more productive then he's getting credit for... people act like he's 90 and putting up horrible stats. He's still only 35 years old and putting in 15 pts and 7 rebs a game in less minutes and while hurting.
On the other hand, I don't think it was a great trade, either. I can't believe that was the best deal they could find. Marion is an expiring contract... there had to be something better out there that would fit into the team better and have more long term possibilities.
And, I don't think this gets them the championship this year. Best case scenario is that Shaq gets healthy and they are as good as they were with Marion. I don't see this making them better. Worst case scenario, Shaq doesn't ever fully recover from the injury and Phoenix is stuck with him for 2 more years with very little options for the future. There is too much potential to get fucked in the long run.
On the flip side, this is awesome for Miami. Wade and Marion with a top lottery pick coming next year and then an expiring Marion contract in a year... they have a ton of possibilities and a bright future.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
Good win tonight although it definetly goes in the ugly win category. No Garnett again and for most of the second half, no Perkins. Hopefully that shoulder strain isn't too bad and he can play on Sunday, but it wouldn't surprise me if he's out until the All-Star break like Garnett.
One thing annoyed me while watching the game though. I don't know why I wasn't expecting this, but I was amazed by the amount of people who were wearing Garnett #5 Celtics jerseys, but were there to root on the Timberwolves. Pick a fucking team. I've been a Celtics fan for 15 years now and I didn't jump ship at any point. That saying, it was absolutely hilarious (when all was said and done) to see these people jumping for joy down the stretch whenever the Wolves did something good, ultimately to lose in the end.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
Looks like we´re setting ourselves up for a first round matchup with the Cleveland Lebrons. Lovely. Orlando needs to start losing like right now Oh, and Sheed is replacing KG in the allstar game. Not a bad choice, but I think Turkojlu shouldve got it. Hes been INSANE in the clutch this year. But I guess they needed another center if Bosh is playing starting PF, so its explainable. ps... i´m in fucking Costa Rica

LeBron can't even win when the likes of Donyell Marshall and Dwayne Jones are guarding the paint. I still think the 3 seed is up in the air. Same with 7 and 8. I could see Miami (only 12 games out!) or Chicago sneaking back in to cap off a rather crazy season.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
This has been quite a year for big trades. It's amazing how far we've come in the last year... especially with Boston and the Lakers rising back to power. It almost feels like it's 1985 again. On another note, I was happy to see Rasheed named to the All Star Team. He's the only person who gets upset about being named to the team because it screws up his vacation. Every year he begs not to be put on the team... it's pretty funny to see him despressed about it.

Even with all the distraction with the trade talks, the Mavs still blew away the Trailblazers 96-76. 10th straight home win and best overall home record (22-3).

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
The Celtics couldn't have had this break come any sooner. Two more big men went down tonight, which now makes five (Garnett, Perkins, Pollard). Brian Scalabrine went down with a pulled groin and Glen "Big Baby" Davis went down with a strained knee. It was kind of similar to what happened to Tony Allen, except Davis wasn't showboating. He's having an MRI on Thursday. If we get Garnett back though, that'll make that injury much easier to deal with.
And even with the injuries, the Celtics still beat the Knicks tonight. We're now 41-9 going into the break. And on top of that, Ray Allen is now going to the All-Star game.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
Dwight Howard didn't deserve to win the dunk contest at all. The last dunk was a variation on what Green had already done except instead of having a guy sit on a ladder handing him the ball, he just kept the ball on the mini rim which pretty much accomplished the same thing. And Green's dunk was better. As for the Superman dunk, as much as I appreciated the Superman reference, he never dunked the ball. He threw it in. It's a dunk contest. Not a mid-air jump shot contest. And somehow all the judges and 70% of the audience who voted, voted for Howard. Dumbasses.

When he did the Superman shot, he released the ball about 1-2 feet before reaching the rim. It wasn't a jump shot. Don't be upset. It's all for fun.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
Dwight did shit I've never seen before. Did you see him hit the ball off the backboard with one hand then dunk it in another? Are you kidding me? The Superman will be remembered, but that might go down as one of the most underrated dunks of all time.
We need Kenny and Chuck to announce every sport. They get so genuinely excited and into the action. Charles even said "I can't believe they pay us for this." Unlike Joe "Eli throws and it's caught" Buck. You could even hear them in the Sportscenter replays.
