Grill you are nothing but a troll. You make a bunch of stupid posts which is why I have you on my ignore list, as you are cluttering up this thread with your nonsense. Back to what really matters, the Red Sox are looking great, although I wonder how long Crawford will be out. Luckily, it is just a minor injury.

This is why I ignore him, so I don't argue with his stupidity. Also, I find it funny he responds to me when I said I was ignoring him lol.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
so the Yankees get a great win, and Gun/others, see the Yankee relief pitching holding up, even without JOBA!!! 2 games back again. nice
And Lester gives up 2 homers early and Crawford on the DL, well, like I said, its a long season!

It is a long season, which is why the Yankees playing well in the first 1/3 of the season means nothing.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
I like Jmart's chart of the 4 Majors from Boston. And since I never got an answer on why Boston fans hate New Yorkers. Still guess it is to the incredible amount of wins by NY area teams, that surround NYC, all within about 25 Miles. Same as Boston to Foxbourgh!
Yup, New York has 60 World Championships in the 4 Major Sports! New York Baseball Championships, Yup, 36 World Championships New York Hockey Championships, Yup, 12 World Championships New York Football Championships, Yup, 8 World Championships New York Basketball Championships, Yup, 4 World Championships 1920s = 7 World Series Championships > 1921 • 1922 • 1923 • 1927 • 1927 • 1928 • 1928 1930s = 9 World Series Championships > 1932 • 1933 • 1933 • 1934 • 1936 • 1937 • 1938 • 1938 • 1939 1940s = 5 World Series Championships > 1940 • 1941 • 1943 • 1947 • 1949 1950s = 10 World Series Championships > 1950 • 1951 • 1952 • 1953 • 1954 • 1955 • 1956 • 1956 • 1958 • 1959 1960s = 5 World Series Championships > 1961 • 1962 • 1968 • 1969 • 1969 1970s = 6 World Series Championships > 1970 • 1973 • 1974 • 1976 • 1977 • 1978 1980s = 6 World Series Championships > 1980 • 1981 • 1982 • 1983 • 1986 • 1986 1990s = 6 World Series Championships > 1990 • 1994 • 1995 • 1996 • 1998 • 1999 2000s = 6 World Series Championships > 2000 • 2000 • 2001 • 2003 • 2007 • 2009

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
By comparison Boston has.....
Boston Celtics
2008, 1986, 1984, 1981, 1976, 1974, 1969, 1968, 1966, 1965, 1964, 1963, 1962, 1961, 1960, 1959, 1957
17
-----------------------
Boston Red Sox
2007, 2004, 1918, 1916, 1915, 1912, 1903
7
------------------------
Boston Bruins
2011, 1972, 1970, 1941, 1938, 1929
6
------------------------
New England Patriots
2004, 2003, 2001
3 -----------------------------
Total - 33
Boston (4 teams) - 33 championships NY (9 teams/2 defunct) - 54 championships/47 championships
I'm biased, but I'd say Boston's total is slightly more impressive. With 3-5 more teams than Boston depending on the time, it'd be kind of embarrassing if New York had less. And that's not including the state total for New York. You've also got the Bills (2), Sabres (0), and the defunct Braves (NBA - 0) and Bisons (NBA - 0).

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Well of course you think Boston is better but first as you included the Jets and the Giants, you need to include the Devils and the Nets 6 wins - only 10 miles outside of the city, as compared to 25 miles for the Islanders. And growing up, all these teams were on local/cable tv and have a nice mixture of fans in the NY area. I personally was a Devil fan and hated when the Rangers won in 1994.
Also, on your numbers, there are like 10 times that New York teams met in the World Series, so the numbers could be better for New York. Plus also, teams go through cycles of winning and losing.
On Boston, the only really impressive team was the Celtics which pumped up Boston's numbers for 12 years - so they can challange the Yankees for the short term crown - were the Yankees were in 15 World Series in 17 Years, from 1947 to 1963 - but not the long term crown, where the Yankees were the clear winner...
and on the Patriots, I think the 2007 loss and not winning since 2004 hurts them. But the Patriots even with those 3 wins (think 2003/2004 were good ones, 2001 questionable) don't match up to the Islanders and Devils, with their wins.
PS. Maybe next I will do Playoff Appearances for All Teams? That would show how many quality seasons all got to see.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Why would you include two teams with New Jersey in their name? The Giants and Jets at least started in New York. The Devils and Nets never have. Even if they're a short distance outside of the city, they're still outside of the state and therefore don't count. What about the poor people of New Jersey wanting credit Grill?

Really...Wrong Again... New York Nets, 1968–1977 and they are moving to Brooklyn... The Devils never had the New York Name, as they came in from Colorado. But go ahead and try to win the small meaningless wars....

Do you wanna guess the # of New York and Boston Teams that made the Playoffs? Wonder what the Red Sox # is (luckily that Wild Card was finally made for the disappointing Red Sox and Boston Fans, in general).

No. None of the championships from a defunct league that only lasted for nine years, count. They no longer exist.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Since you want to continue, and back to baseball only
So for Starters, World Series Appearances for New York Teams 74 to Boston's 12.
See, this is alot better when the New York Teams weren't cancelling each other out, in trying to get into the World Series.
New York Yankees AL Pennants (40) 1921 • 1922 • 1923 • 1926 • 1927 • 1928 • 1932 • 1936 • 1937 • 1938 • 1939 • 1941 • 1942 • 1943 • 1947 • 1949 • 1950 • 1951 • 1952 • 1953 • 1955 • 1956 • 1957 • 1958 • 1960 • 1961 • 1962 • 1963 • 1964 • 1976 • 1977 • 1978 • 1981 • 1996 • 1998 • 1999 • 2000 • 2001 • 2003 • 2009
New York Giants NL Pennants (17) 1954 • 1951 • 1937 • 1936 • 1933 • 1924 • 1923 • 1922 • 1921 • 1917 • 1913 • 1912 • 1911 • 1905 • 1904 • 1889 • 1888
Brooklyn Dodgers NL Pennants (13)
1890 • 1899 • 1900 • 1916 • 1920 • 1941 • 1947 • 1949 • 1952 • 1953 • 1955 • 1956 • 1959
Red Sox AL Pennants (12) 2007 • 2004 • 1986 • 1975 • 1967 • 1946 • 1918 • 1916 • 1915 • 1912 • 1904 • 1903
New York Mets NL Pennants (4) 1969 • 1973 • 1986 • 2000
PS. At least you won against the Mets, as from 1962 when the Mets started, Boston is up 5 to 4. Congrats on that win...but I think 1986, gives the win to the Mets...just like the 2007 Super Bowl gives the win to the New York Giants.
Also, Are you sure you have no Red Sox horror stories, as just for starters, 1986 • 1975 • 1967 • 1946

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
That's a whole bunch of failure you just listed for New York seeing as no one ever remembers who came in second, especially if most of them occurred 60+. And no, I don't have any Red Sox horror stories as I wasn't alive in 1986, let alone 1945. Think there are any board members here that are that old you dumbfuck?

Red Sox last won in 2007 - so 0 for 3 since - and 1 for 89 before that Patriots last won in 2004 - so 0 for 6 since - and 3 for 40 before that Celtics last won in 2008 - so 0 for 3 since - and 0 for 25 years before that Bruins - finally won in 2011 - which broke a 38 year losing streak. So come on, not even close to Title Town...a good decade maybe 7 wins in 40 tries.....but not worth your touting Boston as Title Town!
