 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
Somebody needs to tell the Celtics that they didn't win the NBA Championship the other day. They were dancing around like friggin' idiots... act like you won a game before! I don't recall the Pistons doing that in Beantown when they won. Anyhow... it should be a great Eastern Conference Finals this year. Clearly the Celts and Pistons are pretty evenly matched, and after watching both games, I couldn't tell you which is the better team. It seems to always come down to just a few plays that could go either way.

Man, the Heat really suck this year. How do you lose to the Timberwolves?

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
I think Bargnani is the worst rebounder for his size I've ever seen. You'd think if you were the biggest guy on the court for 25 minutes a game, you could just stand beneath the basket and grab something. The 2 rebounds he gets a game are when it bounces off to the side and he's the only one for miles who can grab it, he never "beats" another player, ever. It's downright sad.

I don't like where this Celtics game is going right now. Even without Ray Allen, we shouldn't be losing to the Bobcats by four points towards the end of the third quarter. Then again, even with Ray Allen we struggled against them in Charlotte and somehow managed to steal a win.

Holy moly... unless Boston makes a miracle comback from being down 11 with 4 minutes left, they're going to get bitch slapped by the 'cats. It just goes to show you never know what will happen on any given night. I'd make fun of Boston, but Detroit is getting its ass handed to them by the Mavs.

The officiating in this quarter has been horrific though. Still, that won't be why the Celtics win or lose this game.
Edit: Actually, it might be. The Celtics have lost six points in this quarter due to awful calls.

Their last two games that should have been easy wins, have been anything but. Whenever a team realizes they are really good, and they get in some exciting tough games against real good opponents, they start to drop off against the "easy" ones. I've seen the Pistons do it time and time again over the past few years. They'll lose to some crap team and look like they're sleepwalking through the game.

Maybe, but it didn't help that they were without Glen Davis and Ray Allen. On the other hand though, they were due for a game like this. I mean if you were to tell me that after January 9th, that they'd be 29-4, I'd be estatic. This was their first really poor game on the year.

Only issue is that they aren't consisent though to play like this in a seven-game series....yet. But hopefully they can develop it over the season HAH! Detroit played like ass.

I think they hit something like 8 out of 10 of right after halftime... everything they were putting up was going in. Detroit didn't play its best game, but when you shoot like that, nobody is going to beat you. It was just one of them nights.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
It's funny seeing the Lakers 1 game out of being 1st in the West again. Fuck, Hornets are 1.5 game back and Blazers 2.5. Even if it's just for a few days, seeing any of those teams on top would just be plain weird. Suns Mavs and Spurs are all coasting this season... who knows. Edit - Actually I think the Suns might just have legitimate concerns. Amare's d is like, really really bad. He was getting pushed around, dunked on, and all around owned in the post tonight by... Mehmet Okur. Good luck with Duncan and KG.

Quote: The NBA today granted a game protest filed by the Miami Heat after its 117-111 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on December 19 at Philips Arena, which will result in the replay of the final 51.9 seconds of the game’s overtime period with the Hawks leading 114-111. The replay will occur immediately prior to the next scheduled game between the two teams -- on March 8, 2008, also at Philips Arena.

lol, you can do that? Replay games? I had no idea.
I wonder if it's the same in the NHL. Probably not.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
I understand the reason. It's not a bad judgmental call (or non-call) from the referees, but an objective error late enough in the game that might possibly affect the outcome. The problem is how you re-create that situation. Bringing back all the same fans that attended the original game? Let them run around for two hours so that they could be similarly tired? What if Shaq is injured before then? What if a trade happens before the scheduled replay, which is after the trading deadline? So bizarre.

Celtics lost tonight? Who cares really? I'm not sure how they're going to on with a 30-5 record.

Makeshift, did you see the game today? INSANE. I thought the Blazers had god on their side for a while there, I can't believe Roy hit that shot in the 1st OT. Luckily Bosh was possessed. I think that was one of the best games I've seen, it had everything. Definitley wouldn't be surprised to see it on ESPN classic in 10 years or something.

I was actually watching the Detroit game... they just seemed really tired and not into it at all. The funniest part was that MSG was dead silent, it's like everyone was totally dumbstruck and speechless.

Magnus wrote: Oh, and Chris Bosh better make it to the all-star team. He deserves it.
I think he's pretty assured after going off in the last couple weeks. I mean he's by far the second best PF in the East right now (O'Neal sucks this year, 'Sheed will count as center because the East has no-one else to fill the void behind Dwight). Garnett and LeBron will start but then after that I think Bosh and Pierce are pretty automatic back-ups forward-wise, and then I predict Butler gets respect but Jamison doesn't(though I think he deserves it). I'm wondering whether Calderon has a shot though. A few weeks ago I would've said it's crazy, but then ESPN published an article saying he should get in and things have escalated a bit. I actually think it'd be pretty wrong, Billups and Kidd are better, but Calderon's FG% and ast.-TO ratio are pretty sexy and flashy. Dunno, maybe they'll put 3 PGs in.
