Why wouldn't they be? They're in the same division. Every team in the same division should worry about each other.

Not needed as they are still up. Or do you need help doing the math. Just how close they still are to the Red Sox, being the #2 Team in the AL! After only losing 1-0 tonight.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Also Jmart, you sure show some different tones whether your Boston teams win or lose. So really hoping that someone takes the head of a dirty Boston player, or the Bruins lose in Game 7, sending Boston away again, for another season. Then you will disappear as you always do after a Boston team loses! Rick0180 wrote: Jmart wrote: Not sure why Thomas was going for the body check there...
Bruins coughed it up. The game was winnable and they let it slip away.
At this point the Bruins should just go after Burrows' head and do what the NHL should've done yesterday. They need to do something to shake up the series. So sick of the F'ing Boston Goons! Hopefully someone will take the head of a cheap shot Boston player. Beckett and Lester hit 5 Yankees in 2 games. F'ing Punks!Bruins might have hurt a guy tonight, with a cheap shot into boards. (Still waiting on info to be released - Is that cause it is bad) Bruins run hard into goalie. Cheap ass play. If the Canucks don't get back into game, hope they send a goon into the game and TAKE A RUN INTO THOMAS! HITTING HIM AS HARD AS THEY CAN. PS. Also, notice the Bruins haven't scored since 1st period, so still counting on a Game 7 Shut-Out by Luongo to win the Cup. That would be Priceless! Congrats Bruins just scored on a 5-3! Wow! BUT OF COURSE CHEAP SHOT BOSTON EVEN SLASHES ON THE GOAL SCORE

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Big game tonight, we already have the longest win streak of the year, but 10 wins sounds so much better, and Wakefield going for win #197. He's always a wild card, but if the Sox can keep up the strong bats, hpoefully he'll get another win. Sox also have the best Road average in the League, something that they haven't had in quite some time.
Jeter has 3 games to get 6 hits, I'd say now its a looking less likely but I'll still give him a 50/50 to get it at home.

I know they're still up. My point was, since when are the Yankees and their fans happy with being the Wild Card, especially since it's June? Giving up on the division already?

No one outside of Sabathia in the rotation is going 8+. Maybe they can slip Freddy Garcia in there? No far from it, Yankees still have chance for the Division, just posting how close the Yankees are to the Playoffs, even with the comments or dis-respect from all Red Sox Fans this year. Gun, You, Others.... Above is just one example, where you guys are laughing at the Yankees, but they are now the #2 team in the AL...and they were the #1 team through alot of the year.

I'm not laughing at or disrespecting the Yankees (Except at their record against the Sox this year), I'm just stating what many other broadcasters have already stated. I think what your really missing out Grill is everyone has been saying the Yankees will be in it, like they have been right now, but as they begin to get battered in Late July and the later months, and their pitching gets overworked, they won't be able to overcome as much as they have in years past.
Yanks have quite a few things going for them right now, which is to be expected this early in the season.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
If the Yankees were #1 through most of the first 1/3 of the season, this downward trend would worry me if I was a Yankees fan. Only 5-5 in their last 10, while Boston is 9-1?!

Etc...but that is just for starters....

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Of course on Tex and Granderson, and absolutely on Homers. The Yankees almost always will lead in homers, and OBP, so there's no reason why they wouldn't think that. The Yankees having a lackluster year will still be a pretty decent team. They are simply hurting in more things than have since probably 95 or so, the year right before there resurgence.
As for links, I've mostly been hearing it continuously on ESPN on nights and on non YES Network broadcasts of Yankee games (Michael Kay is not an objective commentator at all, I think we can all agree on that)

Surprise Surprise! and if the Yankees win tonight, 4 wins in 5 games, so sorry to disappoint you Chippy! PS. Boston Fans. Bad Games by Crawford and Youk, as both blew scoring chances, in the 1st and 3rd innings.

Amazing, but I guess I am happy. Wonder if he can get to the high 50s? That would be awesome!

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Well, Back to a Real Sport!
And Yup, Everyone Notice Yankees have been kicking Ass Lately, beating the 1st Place Indians and Rangers!
Yup, Now the 3rd Best Record in MLB!!!!! and Just 1 Loss Behind in the AL!!!!!!
Yup, So Gun, Where are these experts again and where do I apply for expert membership!
PS. Red Sox Experts. How has that great Red Sox Offense only scored in 1 out of the last 18 innings? Guess they are lucky that someone hit a homer, otherwise could have been 2 straight shut-out losses in a row.

Well Yanks win. Sweep Texas. And that is 6 out of 7, against the 1st Place Indians and Rangers!
Boy, what Pitching the Yankees have had in the last week!
Guess Right Now the Yankees are playing the best ball in baseball. Especially since the Red Sox have hit the skids in Tampa. Scoring 1 times in 18 innings. Hopefully, they can get their hitting back on track, as the Yankees might run away with the division, if they don't!

Hitting the skids? A loss? And one run in 18 innings? You know they won last night 3-0?

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
See Gun/Jmart/Chippy......Yankees have made up the extra games, so now it is down to 1 game! And that is why you look first at the loss column. Anyway, with the Red Sox beating the Yankees 8 out of 9 times. Interesting, that the Red Sox are only up by a game!
Anyway, yup, we got a fight going on for the division...
Boston Red Sox 40 27 New York Yankees 39 28
PS. And that is why I said, yup lets see what happens against other teams, as you gotta play 162 games.

Jmart wrote: No they haven't made up the extra game yet because the Red Sox play tonight. Pathetic, you have to argue everything...well yes they have made up the game, until tonight as the Red Sox could be rained out or cancelled. But right now they are only 1 game apart with the same games played. Boston Red Sox 40 27 New York Yankees 39 28 See 67 Games! Anyway, if the Red Sox play tonight then it will change to 1/2 game ot 1.5 Games, with the Yankees, still having a game to make up. So hope that helps explain how games work out, as all games aren't played at the same time!

Wait, are you Mitt Romney? And Dome roofs have never crashed and cancelled games? Umm! sorry but they have... And Planes have never crashed into Stadiums and cancelled games? Umm, sorry but they have... Anyway, whatever and you are just another Boston whinner too chicken to admit how good the Yankees are playing! Boston Red Sox 40 27 New York Yankees 39 28 And now let's see if the Red Sox can win their 1st World Series since 2007, since most picked them to....except me of course!
