What a game yesterday. 8 innings of shutout ball from both Verlander and E. Santana. Santana was just one strike away from a complete game, but no matter, the Angels got the win today.

Today's game will be special, with Escobar making his first apperence since 2007. Does he still have his stuff? We'll see.

Comon bullpen, hold the freaking lead. I swear, everytime our offense comes through, the bullpen cannot hold it together, but they come through when our offense does not. Is it bad luck. Fortunately, the Angels will face easy teams before playing Texas again. I think the fate of the AL West will be decided on how we play against the Rangers the rest of the way.

Jays are sort of staying alive. Any win without god/Halladay at this point is a blessing. I just hate the AL East

So much for Ortiz's eye test. Turns out he only has dry eyes and can see very well.

Well that's good to know. Now we know he just sucks and it's nothing physical.

He would have had another home run today if not for hitting it in the deepest part of the field. And was walked twice. He's been doing pretty good the last couple games.

Yeah, he is starting to hit the ball well. The good sign for him (or at least tonight) is that he's starting to drive the ball to the opposite field.

The Red Sox are finding new ways to beat the Yankees now. Brad Penny with six shutout innings against their ace? :funny:

Girardi should've pulled Sabathia right after the first batter in the 8th. He'd thrown well over 100 pitches at that point and there was no reason to let him keep going. Instead he let Sabathia blow it after a great start.

8-0!

Teams like to keep Sabathia out there too long. The Red Sox own the Yankees right now.

What is so funny about that???? Brad Penny had arm trouble last year but in others years, he was one of the best pitchers in baseball.

Well he has been erratic this season, I wouldn't call it funny but I didn't think Boston was going to win the game either. Lester looks like his 2008 performance tonight. With Beckett back to dominance, Boston's SP looks in good shape now. I am still not sure about Dice K but Boston has 4 good to great starting pitchers.

Nice offensive night for the Angels yesterday. 18 hits, 11 runs, and a 7 consecutive hit streak (something not done since 2002). They sent Howie Kendrick back to the minors (good riddence, suck he sucks).

If you thought the Mets can't have another Marv Throneberry moment this year, guess again. Castillo so showed by that ball. The is by far the most bizaare last out blooper since the Bill Buckner Error.

Ball should have been caught but you could tell why it became a little bit of a harder play. Arod hit the ball very high with alot of spin and then the ball was caught in that left to right wind gust that made Castillo go sideways for probably 50 feet.

But he was under the ball at the end and should have caught it.

Unforunetely, they did charge K-rod with the blown save and the loss. I agree, it wasn't entirely his fault, although he did get two batters on base on his own. Yes, so it is Castillo's fault, they don't charge the loss to him cause he did not pitch. Actually, I feel more sorry for Frankie than Castillo.

Watching the Yankee/Mets game on Fox, wish that everyone would just shut up about the home runs. Big Deal, it makes it a different game. Wonder if they are making a bigger deal because it involves a NY team.

Also then should every stadium be looked at to see whether is is fair with homers. And as they pointed out, the homers at the Mets stadium is under the normal average. so should the Mets be forced to move in the fences by MLB.

Maybe the homers aren't the stadiums fault... maybe it's the Yankees pitching...

yup, also true but the wind currents seem alittle bad at Yankee stadium.

Also anyone watching the Fox Yankee game, that play by the Yankee right-field was as bad as Castillos. The guy totally misplayed a ball at the wall that was slicing because of the wind.

The Yankees have awful pitching especially their bullpen. I think that is one reason why the Red Sox have dominated them so far.

Mid-Relief Pitching Yes but their 5 starters are an OK group. And the Yankees are getting a good relief pitcher off the DL.

CC Sabathia
Joba Chamberlain
Andy Pettitte
A.J. Burnett
Phil Hughes or Wang if he regains pre-injury form.

Burnett hasn't looked that good this year and I still think Chamberlain is better in the bullpen. It be like Boston putting Papabelon in the rotation.
