Post Re: The NHL 07/08 thread
I'm so glad I didn't have to watch the entire Bruins game tonight (went to see Dane Cook). From what I saw early in the game and then the rest in the highlights, it seemed liked they had another good night on offense, but just completely forgot to play defense for most of the game. The only bright spots really was that the Bruins didn't take shit from anyone (countless fights) and Glen Murray had a two goal game. Other than that, not much else good happened.

Chip wouldn't go for my trade - Afinogenov for Havlat - even though Havlat's on the IR. What gives?

If only my goalies weren't both having off seasons....

Bruins come from two goals down and score four unanswered to beat the Maple Leafs up in Toronto, 4-2. Kobasew chipped in the final two goals and Tuka Rask picks up his first NHL win in net for the B's.

They're now 10-7-2 with 22pts. They're 7th in the conference and third in the divison - 3pts behind the Canadiens and 10pts.........well forget about Ottawa, they're not catching them. No one is.

Great game for the Oil tonight, even if they gave up the lead twice and had to win it in the shootout. That's the one thing they're good at this year.

It feels like every time I check the Habs' schedule, I think "We're playing the Sabres/Bruins/Leafs again??". We play the Sabres tonight and tomorrow night. Booooooring. I see the same teams over and over again. I cannot wait until the recent discussion on changing the yearly schedule to more games played versus the other conference actually becomes reality. How I would love to see the Habs' play a few games against the Oilers, Canucks, and Flames every year. How refreshing and fun that would be.

Peace,
Mike

Well, apparently the schedule will be different next year, which would be nice. But I'm the same as you, Mike, I'm tired of the Oilers playing Minnesota or Colorado every other day, especially since they always lose those games.

Bryzgelov's won his first 4 games now... and he's playing on shit Phoenix.

Wow Burke is dumb.

Granted, 2 of the games were played against the LA Kings (the 3rd worst team in the LEAGUE), and one played against Toronto (the 4th worst team in the LEAGUE). So, 3 of the 4 were easy pickings. And against Anaheim, Bryzgalov didn't do that great, but Phoenix's offence managed to win the game. Although, I agree, it was still a dumb move by Burke.

Peace,
Mike

Another Flyers game, another dangerous incident. How long before the NHL says enough is enough and heavily fines the team?

I find it hilarious that the Oilers scored as many points as the entire Steelers/Dolphins game tonight. :P

Just saw it. You absolutely have to be shitting me.

Quote:
"I did not try to hurt him," Hartnell explained. "There was no intent at all. I am not that type of player. If you look at all the games this year and past years, I finish my checks every time I have an opportunity."

HORSE........SHIT! After watching the video, he clearly saw Alberts bent over in the boards before he checked his head into them. Maybe the league can grow a pair and decide to suspend someone on the Flyers for more than two games.

Yeah, I expected that. Maybe when one of the Flyers Bertuzzis someone then the league will wake up and do something.

The Bruins are playing very very well as of late. They beat the Panthers (who have had the Bruins number for some time) tonight 4-3. In their last ten games they are 6-3-1 and have six out of their last eight. And somehow they are only six points behind the Senators who have struggled somewhat. They're back up to 6th in the conference with the win.

And give credit to Marv Albert during tonight's Celtics game. He is the first person I've heard mention the Bruins when they list off the teams in Boston and how good they're doing.

They voted to change the schedule back to the pre-lockout format for next year: http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=223975&hubname=nhl

I'm glad. I'm tired of the Oilers playing Colorado and Minnesota eight times a year and losing every time.

But they beat Anaheim tonight!

The Oilers actually don't look that bad. Well, at least not the "worst in the league" trainwreck they appeared as a week ago. I think they're tied with Calgary now actually.

Just wanted to say, the St. Louis Blues are definitley the huh? team of the year so far. Brad Boyes has 15 goals this year... who the fuck is Brad Boyes? I guess the city and fans are pretty behind them too, the Rams aren't igniting much passion these days and they have no basketball team, so it's fair game.

I'd say the entire Central Division, actually. I figured Detroit would have this division clinched by January, which they still probably might, but all the other teams are doing much, much better than I expected. You mentioned St. Louis, Nashville isn't a total disaster, Columbus has Rick Nash and Pascal Leclaire, and Chicago's got the top two rookies of the year so far. What a turnaround from what this division usually is.

I have a feeling Columbus will still be one of the league's worst by the end of the year though... they really didn't do anything after last year to justify being better, the only change is Leclaire playing out of his mind. He's already come down to earth lately, he can't keep it up with that shitty team.

Chicago seems real though. All those rooks and Havlat is elite when he's healthy, which is never.
