Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
kindof quiet in here.
see Toronto has given up first place to Baltimore - even earlier then I thought they would - so sorry Shack!!!
and what a great Yankee win - with Burnett still holding up and pitching great
and a really horrible Red Sox game - after getting a 3-0 lead, then blow it by giving up 5 runs in the first - then at least the bullpen held the other team scoreless - but then went without scoring for too many innings themselves - losing in the 12.
Except for Youk, no one is coming through on offense!!!
well that is it as Mets & Dodgers didn't play so didn't see anyone else...

I'll take that.
I'll also take a lineup where most of the team drives in a run a game. Then again, that's just me. but who are your 5 starters???too many names there...and wasn't clay sent to minors???? I saw Mat pitch in the WBC, the guy just gets people out but he is stuck on that 15 pitches per inning. Going back to what I said about the Red Sox pitching - I can't/didn't really comment on the relievers but I was talking about the starting pitchers which so far is coming true.so like I said, 8 pitchers are listed there but only 5 starters are needed. and on the pitchers, lots of questions to me.... Beckett, usually doesn't have a great regular season, either cause he has an injury or season is too long. Lester, last year was his only first really good year. 16-6, so that is alot of pressure to make him your #2. Dice, throws alot of pitches, gives up some homers. Would like that to stop and just get the other team out faster. Then I forget who are your next 2 pitchers from that list of 5.

Whatever. rules how about common sense, don't think it is too much to ask to get decent games from your 1,2,3 and if one fails, then someone else will pick him up...but that is me and now I know why you are so happy with your losing teams, you are happy and want to celebrate when you get 1 win after 3 or 4 shitty performances.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
what a Dodgers win!!!!!
Kershaw 13 K with 1 hit.
Manny starting to pound the ball, wins game in 9th...
Only bad thing is 2 relief pitchers, didn't come through but Brox was on in the 9th.
AND TALK ABOUT STARTING PITCHING > KURODA, BILLINGSLEY, KERSHAW, WOLF, STULTS - MAYBE THE BEST PITCHING STAFF IN BASEBALL. And I like they have done it on the field, not on paper!!!!

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Hmmm. I don't know if the Angels are starting off slowly or are the Mariners really that good. Yes, even fans predicted a slow start without our top Ace's in the pitching department. Hey, it couldn't been worse. I remember in 2002, we had a 6-14 start, and still made it to the World Series. Maybe we will get our s--- together in May.

The Yankees bullpen sucks so hard, it isn't even funny. Worst bullpen in the majors.

After Watching the last few games, I agree that the Dodgers look World Series Caliber this year. In fact, I'd be surprized if they don't make it. They have the best pitching staff in the National League, and an offense where you have one big hitter, and an excellent supporting cast (Furcal at leadoff, and Hudson at clutch, and Ethier doing big behind Manny).

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
All right. The Angels are getting their act together. Nice two out sixth inning rally by the Angels, scoring 5 runs, all with two outs. The broke the streak the Angels had, on failing to score in runners in scoring position with 2 outs in 33 innings (which was the worst in MLB). Great way to break the curse with Napoli, Rivera, and even Izturis coming through. Abreu and Hunter are keeping their batting averages above .300, which they should. Great outing by Saunders, who came through, and since last season, still has a 4-0 record against Seattle.
Let's hope we can keep this momentum with Minnesota.

Also, congrats to the Dodgers for getting a clean sweep against the Giants (the first in almost 3 years). The Dodgers offense is on fire.
Also, congrats to Ichiro for his 3,086th hit, which makes him the all time hit leader in a professional league for a Japanese born player.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
looks like things are starting to come together a little bit for the indians. the starting pitching has been a lot better recently and they are starting to get clutch hits. hopefully this nice win over the yankees can get their season going in the right direction. it's nice to be 3-7 and only be 2.5 games out of first.

Speaking about Manny, are you disappointed that the Angels did n't try to sign him. ( think the owner was mad at Boras from Tex ) But for 1/2 years, I think he would make any good team a winner and the extra people he brings in plus extra connession sales pay for his salary.
