Also, tonights game has been postponed. The makeup game is still TBD. Best of Luck to Nick's family, and rest of the Angels.
I guess I'll be watching the Dodgers game today.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
I heard about it on the Red Sox pregame coverage while driving into school today. That is absolutely horrific. It's a smart move by the Angels organization to cancel tonight's game even though some of the players probably wanted to play tonight so they could get their minds off of what happened.

And I was showing the depth of the pitching staff which also extends into the bullpen. They have the deepest pitching staff in baseball (Rays come close but the bullpen is too disorganized). The only question mark on the staff is Penny. He's not as big a question mark as Burnett is, but still is because he's coming off of surgery. He looked sharp in his last couple of starts in the spring though.
As for Matsuzaka that works out to 105 pitches over 7 innings. Nothing wrong with that. well I never thought Lester YET was deserving of a #2 after his first full year last year at 16-6. Time will tell. again well as the #2 and #3 have very hard starts. But there is a big difference between looking good on paper and doing it on the field. so again, time will tell.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Tomorrow's game against the Red Sox will pay tribute to Adenhart, with every player wearing #34 on their hearts. It will start with a big memorial segment before the game.
Tonight's game will be rescheduled on August 27th (according to unofficial sources) since it is an offday and we play the A's the next day. Instead of the game tonight, FSW (the Angel's Baseball Network) has replayed Nick's 6 innings yesterday, along with extra bits from the commentators, and the managers to fill up the 3 hour time slot remembering Adenhart. I was at the game yesterday, so I may see myself on TV tonight.

Great game by the Angels, getting back to the groove they should be in. Abreu going 3 for 4 today shows why we signed him, he even got two stolen bases today too. Weaver shut down the offense as well. Great way to come back from a tragedy and get back at the .500 mark, now let's get it up.

Sooo close. Bases loaded with two outs (behind by one), and Kendrick almost did it, but the Sox spoiled it for us. Despite the loss, Napoli got 2 homeruns and Hunter got one too. It appears that Napoli could be the biggest threat to the Red Sox, remember his two homeruns in game 3 of the ALDS?

I'll take that from my number five pitcher any day of the week.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Wow, what a wild game, starting with the bottom of the first inning, with Beckett almost throwing the ball at Abreu's head, resulting in a bench clearing brawl (with Scoscia getting ejected for arguing (or did he do it to go for the Easter Meal, ha ha), Spiers getting ejected for charging at Beckett, and Hunter got ejected for getting physical with the umpires). This being Easter Sunday, with lots of families with kids seeing the Easter Bunny making an appearance. I can bet alot of the parents saying "Is this what we brought the kids to see?" Looks like the Audience got more than what they paid for. Then the foul mood followed through in the 2nd, with Mosley giving up two home runs to Youkolus and Drew, but the Angels came back to score three in the third. Then one more run (unearned) in the fifth due to a balk by Beckett. The Angels pitchers got into bases loaded jams, but got out of them with double plays (great job). At the top of the 6th, the score is 4-2, the Angels gave up a run due to errors by Izturus and Napoli, which they should not have commited. But in the 7th, Vladdy finally came through with his first homerun of the season (it's about time). Then with score 5-3, top of the ninth, Fuentes came in the close the door. He got into a two men on base on two outs jam (with the score 5-4 due to an RBI by Youk), until he struck out Drew to end the game. The Angels prevail after the funk in the first innings. I am actually surprized they survived this one, although I did make a good call on Drew striking out against Fuentes, since Drew has stuck out alot by him in the past (when they were on the Dodgers and Rockies, respectively). Now the Angels are back to square one, and two hard teams out of the way. I correctly predicted for us to win half of these games.
What a way to spend Easter.

( after he signed a big contract based on a career year ) and no Manny for the first time in what 7/8 years.
