Re: NHL 2010-2011 Season
It wasn't offside. Kesler's skate just caught the blueline.
Terrific game.

Y'know, for all the hoopla that Tim Thomas has received throughout the season and into the playoffs about his stellar play, Luongo has put up a very solid playoff run so far.

Better to be lucky, than good? Definitely but when it comes down to it, you can only win with luck so many times. Out there, Luongo looks poised, comfortable in net while Thomas is reaching (with style) to save pucks. Not a bad thing...just 2 different styles. Now if only Luongo can work on/stop handling the puck so often...

Re: NHL 2010-2011 Season
It's impressive Luongo is sitting at a 2.17 GAA and .927 save % after those two Chicago games where he got pulled.
If he keeps it up, I think he's a shoo-in for the Conn Smythe.

Re: NHL 2010-2011 Season
Impressive no doubt but on the other side of the coin, people will point to Thomas and his top save % even after he let in 4 goals twice and 5 goals twice in 1 series.
All Luongo has to do is get 3 more shutouts and the Conn Smythe is his.

I just watched it again, and the goalie went out of the net even though there was a defenseman in front blocking the puckholder, but the other guy had already broken through the last defenseman and was wide open head toward the net, but the goalie still left the net, giving the Canucks the easiest way to a goal.

Re: NHL 2010-2011 Season
You obviously have no idea what hockey even is.
The defenseman between Thomas and the puck made the incorrect play. If he knows a guy is free, you try to block the pass. Plain and simple.

Still Thomas came out too far considering the other guy, the scorer, had already broken through. And as a matter of fact, he got closer to the net than the goalie, when the guy scored. So I can't believe you are arguing that Thomas didn't mess up.

Re: NHL 2010-2011 Season
Looked at it again, and he didn't get by the goalie. But I will wait for someone else, as more than half the goal was open on the play, and the goalie just ignored the other player. Seems very wrong.

Not sure why Thomas was going for the body check there...
Bruins coughed it up. The game was winnable and they let it slip away.
At this point the Bruins should just go after Burrows' head and do what the NHL should've done yesterday. They need to do something to shake up the series.

Not sure how this game was winable as Bruins sure didn't dominate, and it is funny that you are bitching, as Bruins aren't the cleanest team. Anyway, maybe they should find a way to get through the Canucks defense on the ice, then maybe they could win an easy game.

Re: NHL 2010-2011 Season
That goal was definitely Thomas' fault.
Chara also had a pretty bad game. When a guy eight inches shorter than you beats you on the winning goal in overtime, you're doing something wrong.

If that's not a winnable game then what is?

Yes, it is very rare that any team scores in the whole 20 minutes during the 3rd period.
Surprised the NHL doesn't just cancel the 3rd period, and give the win to the leader in the 2nd period.
Sound good, Boston Fan?

Grill, do I really have to define the word winnable for you? At what point in my post did I say the Bruins were a lock to win the game heading into the third period, or that they should've even won the game?

Re: NHL 2010-2011 Season
Well as Canucks were only 1 goal behind, then I guess the game was very winnable for the Canucks also.
So in effect, it was winnable for both teams, surprise, surprise.
Isn't Sports just great.

But not as winnable as it was for the Bruins since the Canucks weren't winning at that point in the game.
