My head was turned and I missed the replay. I heard Remy's comments though. He seems very promising.

Come playoff time, after the tribe gives the sox some dirty shit, you're gonna be wishing every series was nine games long.
Tribe <3.
I know it's way too early to make this claim, but our pitching's back, and we're gonna challenge Oakland, Boston, and New York for best rotations. Carmona, Sabathia, Lee, Westbrook, and Byrd (...as the #5 man).

first they have to beat out either Detroit, division or Seatlle, wildcard.
which they should unless they choke.

That's almost as bad as people asking for the baseball playoffs to be shortened.
It's not basketball, which takes 2 months. They actually play on consecutive days in Baseball! And there are less rounds.

This just in - Tampa Bay isn't good.
13-3 Red Sox in the 6th currently. The Sox scored six in the first, three in the second, and four in the third. Ortiz is still struggling mightily though. I think he's now homerless in 32 straight games. He's still getting base hits, he just can't lift one over a wall. On a brighter note though, Hideki Okajima was the final selection for the AL All-Star team as he won the online voting. So that makes six Red Sox in all going to the All-Star game. I believe that is the highest total of any team this year.

If I remember SportsCenter correctly this morning, the 32 runs scored was the highest amount of runs scored in a doubleheader since the Red Sox scored 35 back in 1939.

Ugly game for the Red Sox in Motown. The good news is that David Ortiz finally hit a home run. I think his drought was at around 35 games without hitting one. Also Gabbard pitched another good game. The bad news is there was no other offense to support Gabbard. As a matter of fact, up until the Tigers scored in the 13th, both offenses were terrible, especially in extra innings. Both the Tigers and the Red Sox left the bases loaded twice (Sox in the 10th and 12th, Tigers in the 11th and 12th). The Tigers got the timely hit though and that's why they won.
Good thing the Bluew Jays and Yankees lost as well. How unlucky do you have to be, to be a 44 year old pitcher, who gives up one run through eight innings pitched, and lose, especially since the night before, your team scored 14 runs?

And the first half is over. For an update, here are all the standings.
AL EAST
1. Boston: 53-34 --
2. Toronto: 43-44 - 10.0 GB
3. New York: 42-43 - 10.0 GB
4. Baltimore: 38-49 - 15.0 GB
5. Tampa Bay: 34-53 - 19.0 GB
Biggest surprise: No one besides the Red Sox are above .500.
AL CENTRAL
1. Detroit: 52-34 --
2. Cleveland: 52-36 - 1.0 GB
3. Minnesota: 45-43 - 8.0 GB
4. Chicago: 39-47 - 13.0 GB
5. Kansas City: 38-50 - 15.0 GB
Biggest surprise: The White Sox are only a better team than the Royals by two games.
AL WEST
1. Anaheim: 53-35 --
2. Seattle: 49-36 -- 2.5 GB
3. Oakland: 44-44 -- 9.0 GB
4. Texas: 38-50 -- 15.0 GB
Biggest surprise: Nothing really. Maybe that Oakland is 6.5 back of Seattle, but that makes sense since all they do is play each other.
NL EAST
1. New York: 48-39 --
2. Atlanta: 47-42 -- 2.0 GB
3. Philadelphia: 44-44 -- 4.5 GB
4. Florida: 42-47 -- 7.0 GB
5. Washington: 36-52 -- 12.5 GB
Biggest surprise: Washington has that many wins.
NL CENTRAL
1. Milwaukee: 49-39 --
2. Chicago: 44-43 -- 4.5 GB
3. St. Louis: 40-45 -- 7.5 GB
4. Pittsburgh: 40-48 -- 9.0 GB
5. Houston: 39-50 -- 10.5 GB
6. Cincinnatti: 36-52 -- 13.0 GB
Biggest surprise: That the Brewers aren't already running away with the division.
NL WEST
1. San Diego: 49-38 --
2. Los Angeles: 49-40 -- 1.0 GB
3. Arizona: 47-43 -- 3.5 GB
4. Colorado: 44-44 -- 5.5 GB
5. San Fransisco: 38-48 -- 10.5 GB
Biggest surprise: Two actually. The first is how close this division is. Second, the Colorado Rockies. They actually have a chance to catch up and possibly steal the dvision.
*And for shiggles*: In order to match my predictions in the AL EAST, here is what the Top 3 have to do.
Red Sox - 43-32 (.573%). 96-66
Blue Jays - 41-34 (.546%). 84-78
Yankees - 48-29 (.623%). 90-72
That would put the Yankees six games in back and the Blue Jays 12 back. In order to tie them, the Blue Jays would have to go 53-22 (.706%). The Yankees would have to go 54-23 (.740%). Even though it's based on my predictions, I think it's very clear that if the Blue Jays or Yankees want to catch the Red Sox, they're going to have to play over .700 baseball for the rest of the year.

Anyone watch the home run derby tonight? I tried to, but it actually put me to sleep. I'm not sure what it was. I guess it was just that there was only one big name in the tourney and you knew he was going to win going in (Guerrero) so why bother watching it? Or maybe it was Joe Morgan who apparently has to be apart of everything baseball on ESPN. I've said it before and I'll say it again. When is ESPN going to realize that Dave O'Brien and Rick Sutcliffe are the best guys for the Sunday night gig?
Cecil Fielder's kid definetly has the potential (And already pretty much is) a fantastic power hitter. He really hit a home run in Tigers Stadium when he was twelve?
In other All-Star news, Danny Haren is starting for the American League All-Stars while Jake Peavy goes for the hometown Nationals

I concur.
I will also root for the Phillies to not re-sign Rowand this off-season, cause I want him back in Chicago!
I miss you, Aaron.

Putz in the 8th, Papelbon in the 9th. Luckily, it didn't burn Leyland as the AL gets the win (5-4) and home field advantage in the World Series. And Ichiro is named MVP thanks to his two run inside the park home run, the first in All-Star Game history.
