Yes, go Ottawa!
I see Cherry is still bitter about Toronto's lackluster season and is venting his frustrations out on Ottawa -- their mortal enemy. The only reason they're still in the series is because of Emery, he says.
No wonder they call him sour grapes.

God, I am so happy Dallas is finally dead. I don't really love the Avs, though do kind've like them and at least they have Theodore. On the other hand Dallas is just about my least favorite team in the league. Theodore was rocking the shit today, which was the difference maker.
Buffalo is up 3-2, but I think it'll be 7 games. My guess is that Forsberg rebounds in Game 6 with another 3-4 point killer, then game seven will be the Sabres'.
Rangers suck! Sooo bad. They gave what's got to be one of the most pathetic playoff performances I've ever seen. I mean, none of the games were even close, it was laughable.
Overall, I think in the West it'll be Edmonton, Avs, Calgary, and San Jose. I would actually love that final 4, I like all of them quite a bit. It would mean a Battle of Alberta Edmonton vs Calgary, and a close San Jose vs Colorado. Because Calgary hasn't been playing so good, I actually think Edmonton would have one hell of a chance to beat them. I wouldn't bet on it, but a 7 game series and lots of close games wouldn't surprise me at all. Colorado vs San Jose would basically be a coin toss, but if I had to guess I'd say San Jose wins on route to surpassing Edmonton/Calgary in the semis, getting to the finals in line with my pool prediction.
East has that Montreal and Carolina series, which is so up in the air right now. There's basically no way of telling who'll win, though unfortunately if I had to guess I'd say Carolina will. Either way, that conference is completley the New Jersey show. They've won 15 games straight, completley unstoppable mayhem. My guess is that it'll be Ottawa vs Buffalo and Carolina vs New Jersey, with Ottawa and Buffalo having a hell of a series that Ottawa eventually takes, while New Jersey sweeps in 4 and extends their streak to 19 games. Jersey wins in 5 games in the semis losing the streak, but then sweeps San Jose in the finals.

Carolina up 3-2 in the series now.
San Jose currently beating Nashville, and could take the series tonight if they win.
PEACE, Mike.

Carolina wins... Shit. Looks like Montreal is done, I'd say in 6 now. Ottawa vs Buffalo will be a killer series, a big flashback to when the Sabres upset swept them those years ago.

Carolina/Montreal will be close, but looks like the 'Canes will take it, now that they've got a good goalie. Buffalo/Philly will go to seven, with the home team winning all the games, so Buffalo will win it. That sets up Ottawa/Buffalo, which Ottawa should take, and New Jersey/Carolina, which the Devils will win. Setting up one helluva conference final in Ottawa/NJ. I don't know who would take that.
Edmonton should be able to beat Detroit, Calgary will beat Anaheim, and San Jose will beat Nashville, meaning three out of four of the series will be won by the underdog. That sets up Edmonton/Calgary - could be the greatest series of this playoffs - and San Jose/Colorado, which the Sharks should take. I really don't know who could win between Edmonton and Calgary, but they could make it to the final, as they should be able to beat the Sharks as well. If Edmonton makes it to the Stanley Cup final, I would die from surprise and excitement.

I expected Carolina to win tonight, so I don't consider the series "over". In fact, in my betting pool, I picked Carolina to win. Montreal will win the next game, in my opinion. Although yeah, it could very well be over. I see it going to 7 games either way. The fact is, Montreal has lost all 3 times by only one goal, and Montreal actually outshot Carolina tonight. That is far different from the regular season losses, which were blowouts.
It ain't over 'til it's over.
PEACE, Mike

Montreal's momentum has stagnated. It's clear no one expects them to win the cup (except maybe Mike ) and I think it's taken its toll. They might win game 6, but I highly doubt they'll win the series. Hope I'm wrong though

Hehe, no, I don't think Montreal will win the cup, but I do still think they can overcome Carolina.
New Jersey is my pick to win the cup. They slaughtered New York, and all of the competition is being knocked out. Dallas is gone, Nashville is gone, New York is gone, Detroit could be gone tonight (if Detroit can't even hold it's own against Edmonton, they aren't going to get the cup). Just looks like a New Jersey win to me, at this point. I don't see anyone else being stronger. Ottawa could maybe get the cup, but I somehow doubt it. Their playoff curse will remain, I think.
PEACE, Mike.

The thing about Detroit is... they ALWAYS do this against lesser teams. Against good/great teams... they shine... but against these teams that are lower ranked... they are mediocre at best. That's why I HATE going to the Coyotes games against Detroit... because the Coyotes just run all over them... it's ridiculous.
I do think Detroit will win tonight... but Game 7... I'm not so sure

I would be very angry if New Jersey won the cup again. They're a good team, but enough is enough. They win every couple years, but they don't play like a dynasty. They didn't have a great season, they just got hot at the right time. They don't deserve to win.
Ottawa could give them a run. Ottawa ran over Tampa almost as much as New Jersey over New York, and Tampa was the defending champs, while New York hadn't made the playoffs for a while and weren't playing well. It'll be close between them for the East title.
The West is up for grabs right now, IMO. San Jose will probably make it to the conference final, but I don't know if they can make it to the Stanley Cup final. If Edmonton beats Detroit tonight, then that's 3 out of the 4 top seeds (all except Calgary) knocked out in the first round. Any of the four making it to the second round if Edmonton and Calgary win tonight, including Colorado and San Jose, could make it to the Stanley Cup final.
I think a team from the East will win the cup this year.

New Jersey is on a much higher level than Ottawa right now IMO, they've won 15 games straight. That's bloody amazing. I agree that their winning is becoming a bit redundant, but they are the best team at the moments Ottawa or Buffalo would be solid competition, but I don't see it happening.
Canes will probably be swept, meaning a 19 game winning streak. I don't know much about the record, but that's gotta be up there. You can't get much more dominant.
New Jersey is definitley the big favorite to win at this point.

And Edmonton has officially ELIMINATED the Detroit Red Wings from the playoffs. Now THAT is a huge upset.

Detroit fell apart in that game, and Oilers pushed hard in the third. What a game.
Amazing. All of the leading teams in the western conference in the playoffs are GONE except Calgary who is still left fighting. Dallas gone. Nashville gone. And now Detroit gone.
PEACE, Mike.

Insane. Greatest moment in Oilers hockey in fifteen years. Unbelievable.
Hemsky scoring the game-tying and game-winning goals? Fantastic. What a game. Greatest third period of the season, no doubt.

Oh, well. As I've been saying all season, at least we have the Pistons. The only really upsetting part, for me, is that this is probably Stevie's last chance to win another Stanley Cup.

BULL SHIT!
That third goal by Edmonton should NOT have counted, and you ALL KNOW IT!
He dropped it in the net, you can see him holding it in his arms. Worst call in the history of hockey.
Bull shit

Don't be bitter.
Detroit shouldn't have let us come back, anyway. And you guys got plenty of calls throughout the series. How about the amazing diving Chelios, eh?

These whole playoffs have been filled with bad calls. It's like the refs want nobody to win. Chelios is old, he falls alot.
I'm not bitter, watch the reply. You know I'm right.

You can't really tell where the puck is. Besides, they were reviewing whether he kicked it in or not, and he clearly didn't. Lidstrom pushed Hemsky into the net, and the puck went in with him.
But, yeah, the reffing has been horrible this playoffs. In the Calgary/Anaheim game, the refs just disallowed a goal by the Ducks that should have counted, and they didn't even review it. I don't know what they're doing.

Ducks should be up 2-0 right now. There's no way Giguere should've sat out tonight, he hasn't played great but come on. Brislovsky? What the hell is that? If J.S. was in there, the first goal would've never happened. And of course the Selanne thing was possibly the worst call of the playoffs so far. Can't believe there wasn't even a review. They're outplaying the hell out of Calgary right now, and I kind've want them to win. Game 7 would be great, the series has been so close.
