Not long until Murray gets knocked out. His ranking is the biggest joke in tennis.

It's pretty much Serena's to lose now.
Um...Serena. I suggest you show up this time and not lay a Stosur.

Re: The Tennis Thread - Wimbledon '12
Serena's serving is just impeccable.
One stat they mentioned last night was that she has served more aces than the other 3 semifinalists combined. She has 85 aces and only needs 4 more to break her own record. That's just awesome to watch her serve herself out of trouble.

Re: The Tennis Thread - Wimbledon '12
I dunno, if Federer wins, he ties Sampras' Wimbledon record & number of weeks at #1 and basically cements his place as the GOAT.

Re: The Tennis Thread - Wimbledon '12
Yes yes...Murray wins he's a legend but we all know he won't. Have ya'll not watched him in GS Finals. He wilts and his emotions always get the best of him. You combine those faults already with the added pressure of a whole Nation. Not to mention he's playing the best player of his own era.
Federer wins in 3 or 4.
Congrats to my girl Serena. She took care of business even with that minor hiccup in the 2nd set. She just continues to build on her resume.

Re: The Tennis Thread - Wimbledon '12
What a match. May not be as epic as those 5-set finals, but the quality is magnificent. Murray played well and really battled, but Federer was simply sublime, as good as I've ever seen him in quite some time.

Re: The Tennis Thread - US Open '12
Well Federer was in every US Open SF since 03 before this one, so I wouldn't include Nadal in that statement
OTOH this is the first Federer/Nadal-less major semifinal, period, since French Open 2004

NINE FREAKING YEARS AGO! Isn't Fed's GS Quarterfinal streak still alive though?

Re: The Tennis Thread - US Open '12
Congratulations to Serena Williams for winning her 15th Major!! It was looking like she was gonna lose but she was able to fight her way back and claw it out.

Azarenka 4 Titles 48-7 Radwanska 3 Titles 48-14 Sharapova 3 Titles 44-7 Williams 5 Titles 46-4
I don't know how they calculate the rankings but maybe that needs to be tweaked or something. Maybe more emphasis on majors but I think we all know that Williams was the #1 player in the world since the French Open. I think resetting the points leaderboard each season would help too rather than having to "defend" points.

Yeah, more winners than errors, the forehand was under control, everything was excellent. Hope she does well in the final.
