It wouldn't be so bad if the refs weren't complete idiots. Oh well. Move on to game 4.

PEACE, Mike.

I'm going to take comfort in knowing that Carolina has NEVER come back to win a series after losing the first 2 games. Montreal will win their next home game to make it 3-1, and then will win a 4th in one of the last few games.

I'm extremely worried for Saku Koivu. He had to be helped off the ice because he couldn't even see properly. Gainey, the Canadiens coach/GM, said in an after report that it was a cut as well as his eye that was damaged. It is a serious incident, and it absolutely blows me away that no penalty was given for this. Hell, a suspension is more appropriate, but they didn't even get a friggin' penalty. Anyways, a serious incident that required a rush to the hospital. It is not looking good, and I pray, pray, pray that he has not lost an eye or lost his eyesight.

PEACE, Mike.

It's ok Mike... remember a couple playoffs ago when Stevie Y got hit right in the eye with a puck... while he was behind the net... he can see just fine... and he's 40!

Although.... he is superhuman so...

Well, at least all four Canadian teams are still up 2-1 in their respective series. It would be awesome if they all survived the first round.

Montreal also wins in 6. Montreal gets the next game, then Carolina, then Montreal wins the series.

New Jersey in 5. The Rangers will win the next game.

The Flyers in 7. Gonna be close, but the Flyers aren't out yet.

Edmonton in 6. Detroit ties it up tonight, before Edmonton takes the next two.

Colorado in 4. The only sweep of the Conference Quarter-Finals.

Calgary in 7. Another long one, but the Flames will take it.

Nashville in 6. The comeback begins in the next game for the Predators.

My predictions:

Edmonton in 7. This is going all the way.

Colorado in 5. Dallas wins the next one, but then loses again.

Calgary in 6. Ducks will win the next one, but lose the two after.

San Jose in 6. Preds will take game five, but lose game six.

Ottawa in 5. Tampa won't win another one.

Montreal in 6. Montreal wins the next one, then Carolina, then Montreal again.

New Jersey in 4. Rangers have no chance.

Buffalo in 7. The home team will win every game.

I'm also having a really good feeling that all 4 Canadian teams will win their first series.

Edmonton got a crucial game 3 win, and I think this will boost them forward with confidence to possibly take the series. In any event, I see this going to 7 games.

Calgary and Anaheim is a close one, but Calgary is overall a better team and they have super solid goaltending which will edge out the Ducks. The #6 seed also has one the smaller percentages of upsets compared to the #5 and #7 seeds.

Montreal took the first two AWAY games, is still holding strong, is currently winning the series, and they will want to win this series for Koivu now. As long as we aren't held back by bullshit referees again, we're good. Plus the #7 seed has the highest percentage of upsets over the #2 seed.

And Ottawa is Ottawa. They're just too good, especially when they're playing against the so-so Lightning this year. They got 2 blowout wins so far, so they'll take it.

PEACE, Mike.

Thus... Detroit in 7

Edmonton doesn't have to win an away game to win the series. They are already winning 2-1. Edmonton just has to win both of their last 2 home games (tonight, and game 6) to win the series. Even then, Edmonton already won an away game, proving they can top the Red Wings when away. Not saying Edmonton will definately win, but they are completely capable.

PEACE, Mike.

They had a little conference where Mike Murphy spoke about the Canadiens game and the Saku incident. Basically he beat around the bush and claimed our refs are the best in the world, and said that they missed calls and made mistakes, but they did their job. Which is it, Mr. Murphy? Annoying. The NHL will do everything to support their false, fantastical view that the referees are perfect.

In other news, Koivu is still in the hospital, and a real assessment can't be made until the swelling has gone down on his eye. For now, most people are saying they think it is serious, but nothing solid has been said yet. We won't know for a few days.

It has been announced that Kostitsyn will fill Koivu's shoes while he is gone. He has a LOT to live up to, but I think he has a lot of talent and can do it. Good luck Kostitsyn, and get better soon Koivu!!

PEACE, Mike.

I know...

Edmonton was pulling strong, keeping up, but then Detroit pulled away at the end. And Calgary was doing fine, but they unfortunately lost in OT.

At least Ottawa won. I predict they will win the next game, and therefore take the series in 5. They will be the first series to finish (I think Dallas will win their next game - they have to win at least one).

PEACE, Mike.

Yeah, good for Ottawa. I think this is the third time in the series where they've trailed for the first half and then caught up big time in the latter parts of the game. I'm not sure if this is their strategy, but I don't think it'll work on the stronger teams.

As for Dallas...well, it looks like I won't be winning trixster's play-off pool :|

Detroit ROCKS!

They actually kept up with Edmonton in the first 40 minutes!

The thing about Edmonton is... THEY ARE TERRIBLE IN THE 3RD PERIOD!

They need to figure that out or they will lose the next 2 games...

I actually agree with you... Edmonton sucks in the third. I still think they can take the series, though.

How about that non-call on Lidstrom for interference? Bogus.

So Carolina beat Montreal 3-2 and tied up the series at two apiece, and Philly beat Buffalo 5-4 and tied up that series as well.

I can't wait for Mike to come and complain about the crappy refs... ;)

I didn't watch the game, so I wouldn't know. Had an exam. But it wouldn't surprise me. I expected Montreal to lose this one, in a way. They were robbed of their first home game, which should have been theirs.

Irregardless, the Habs will win this series, I think. It's actually quite amazing how well they've done to keep the series 2-2 (not to mention they lost Koivu). They were SMOKED during the regular season by Carolina, with NONE of the regular season games even being close. With Montreal having 2 wins, and 2 really close losses under their belt, they are clearly capable. The series will go down to 7 games, with Montreal edging them out. I have faith. I mean, Montreal seems to be playing better away, actually. It would be quite interesting if they won the next game (which is away), lost the next game after (which is at home) and then won the last game (which is away). All home games would be won by Carolina, and all away games by the Habs.

PEACE, Mike.

That was probably one of the worst games I've seen Detroit play...

They fell apart in the 2nd... but imo... Legace had NO chance on two of the goals... deflections are hard to stop.

That last 20 seconds was the most exciting I've ever seen

WOOHOO!! OILERS WIN!! THEY'LL TAKE IT IN SIX!!

The refs really want Detroit to win, eh? The bias is so obvious it's revolting. What about that trip on Peca before Shanahan's goal? Where was the call? Pathetic.

Well, I was right about the Devils (no surprise, seeing as how I made my prediction when they were up 3-0), but I figured the Rangers would take Game 4.

So Ottawa's through to the next round as well, they beat Tampa 3-2 in the game and 4-1 in the series. They'll play either Montreal, if the Habs win, or the winner of Buffalo/Philly, if Carolina wins. New Jersey will be in the other semi-final. There's a good chance the Eastern final will be Ottawa/NJ.
