 Re: 2011 College Football Season
I am guessing you mean Alabama because Arkansas has not shot at the title. Also, if LSU loses this game. I think Oklahoma State can get there, but they will need to dominate Oklahoma.

 Re: 2011 College Football Season
Oh well, I was hoping for controversy as this BCS is still shit and we need a playoff system like every other sport.

 Re: 2011 College Football Season
I vote for OK St. Alabama's schedule doesn't look so tough in retrospect, especially compared to LSU's. And if Alabama had won that game I would vote for an Alabama/LSU finals, I have nothing against rematches. OK St. and Alabama have equal claim to the title game. Alabama has already gotten their chance at LSU, now give OK St. their chance.
Alabama/LSU will get the biggest ratings - so that is most likely the game we'll see.

 Re: 2011 College Football Season
I'd vote for OSU as well. Alabama got their chance at HOME, so I still don't believe they deserve another shot unless all the other candidates pale in comparison. Yeah, OSU did lose to a weaker team, but it was on the road and had a big distraction of the tragedy happened to their women basketball coaches.

 Re: 2011 College Football Season
I'm hoping it's OSU even though the news that's milling about is that AL has hung on to #2.
I just don't get how the media can't understand that the best thing AL talks about is that it LOST to the #1 team. Not to mention that it was at home, that they haven't had near as difficult a schedule as people tout and that they had their attempt at beating LSU and couldn't do it. Whatever, LSU is going to have to most likely beat them again which makes no sense when LSU has beaten 2 conference champions and AL the logical choice for the championship is to beat the next big conference champ in OSU. In addition, it would make a very interesting game at least for me.
As for the rest, I hope TCU somehow qualifies for that automatic BCS spot. That would be nice for the big 12 to replace Mizzou and TAM with 2 confernence champions. Frankly, they are great replacements because Mizzou hasn't won a title in decades and TAM has that 1 they stole from KSU.

 Re: 2011 College Football Season
So 0.009 is the difference. Just stupid. What do they accomplish by setting up the rematch? If LSU wins, they won't add anything to their resume since they beat the same team twice; if Alabama wins, it would be 1-1, and you will see the whining that they should play best of 3 or if the game is close enough, LSU still has the argument to be the better team since they won on the road.

 Re: 2011 College Football Season
I don't see what's so hard to figure out here.
LSU beat'em already.
It just happens that opinionated whores voted AL #2 more than OSU. If it were a playoff system then a potential rematch would be fine as multiple teams would have a chance at the NC game like Boise or Stanford despite not winning their conferences. Here we have a overpraised team that plays for the whole shebang because of the system. Whatever!
Hopefully, LSU beats them again. I'll enjoy seeing Saban lose.

 Re: 2011 College Football Season
I am looking forward to seeing OSU Stanford.
KSU vs whomever. PSU vs Houston. Baylor vs whomever. KSU vs whomever.
and the WV game.
Who wins the Heisman?
I think Robert Griffin earned it Saturday over Richardson.

I don't mind rematches if there is one. The current system is messed up. Why should the best teams be decided on paper by opinionated coaches, computers, and a mysterious formula.

 Re: 2011 College Football Season
What a joke. Virginia Tech over Boise and Kansas State. VT didn't beat any team in the final Top 25. The difference in the final BCS ranking to Boise is large than VTs lead over #19 Houston. They even are behind Boise and Kansas State in each and every Computer Ranking. Assholes! Quote: In the final analysis, we just felt the two teams we have chosen really give us in the long run the best opportunity to put together a matchup that will provide a very exciting football game." Yeah, because both aren't good football teams

 Re: 2011 College Football Season
All you need to know about the BCS is this: If Boise gets the FG against TCU they are in the National Championship game. Now they don't get any BCS bowl??? This can't be it

Idk if ya'll check stiffarmtrophy, but they are spot on since they've started. They actually track down actual voters spoken vote and tally them up. RG3 wins this comfortably.

 Re: 2011 College Football Season
This article makes it appear that we could be seeing some changes to the BCS soon. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/n ... eam_120811I could accept a Final Four. It is much better than the current system (although not as good as a playoff). It would help avoid some of the controversy. Hopefully, they can get this to pass and finally have a better system.

That is a good step in the right direction. My biggest issue is the coaches poll being part of the "formula". It is a clear conflict of interest. They need to eliminate that from the BCS entirely. Keep it separate like the AP poll is.

I think the real tragedy is that Arkansas, the number 6 team in the nation who only lost to the number 1 & number 2 team in the nation was not eligible for a BCS game and have to see teams like Michigan and Virginia Tech play in them.
