I wonder how the Rangers will react tonight after getting bitch slapped throughout most of Game 1. Hopefully well, because I need them to win at least twice this series. If they play like they did in G1, this series isn't going to last too long.

My heart says not yet. Anaheim is too much in the goaltending and defence area, Buffalo isn't a pushover either of course.
I expect them to go to game 7 of the finals and lose... Canada can't get enough torture. I think if they make it there this year, and then again in the next two years though, they'll win.

Awards nominees were announced today:
CALDER MEMORIAL TROPHY (outstanding rookie): Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh Penguins; Jordan Staal, Pittsburgh Penguins; Paul Stastny, Colorado Avalanche.
FRANK J. SELKE TROPHY (outstanding defensive forward): Rod Brind'Amour, Carolina Hurricanes; Samuel Pahlsson, Anaheim Ducks; Jay Pandolfo, New Jersey Devils.
HART MEMORIAL TROPHY (most valuable player to his team): Martin Brodeur, New Jersey Devils; Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins; Roberto Luongo, Vancouver Canucks.
JACK ADAMS AWARD (outstanding coach): Lindy Ruff, Buffalo Sabres; Michel Therrien, Pittsburgh Penguins; Alain Vigneault, Vancouver Canucks.
JAMES NORRIS MEMORIAL TROPHY (outstanding defenseman): Nicklas Lidstrom, Detroit Red Wings; Scott Niedermayer, Anaheim Ducks; Chris Pronger, Anaheim Ducks.
LADY BYNG MEMORIAL TROPHY (sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct): Pavel Datsyuk, Detroit Red Wings; Joe Sakic, Colorado Avalanche; Martin St. Louis , Tampa Bay Lightning.
LESTER B. PEARSON AWARD (most outstanding player as voted by fellow members of the NHLPA): Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins; Vincent Lecavalier, Tampa Bay Lightning; Roberto Luongo, Vancouver Canucks.
VEZINA TROPHY (outstanding goaltender): Martin Brodeur, New Jersey Devils; Miikka Kiprusoff, Calgary Flames; Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers; Roberto Luongo, Vancouver Canucks.
Four goalies up for the Vezina due to a tie, and no Hasek? Beautiful. Also, two of them are up for the Hart as well, but Crosby will still win that. My predictions:
CALDER MEMORIAL TROPHY (outstanding rookie): Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh Penguins.
FRANK J. SELKE TROPHY (outstanding defensive forward): Jay Pandolfo, New Jersey Devils.
HART MEMORIAL TROPHY (most valuable player to his team): Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins.
JACK ADAMS AWARD (outstanding coach): Michel Therrien, Pittsburgh Penguins.
JAMES NORRIS MEMORIAL TROPHY (outstanding defenseman): Nicklas Lidstrom, Detroit Red Wings.
LADY BYNG MEMORIAL TROPHY (sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct): Joe Sakic, Colorado Avalanche.
LESTER B. PEARSON AWARD (most outstanding player as voted by fellow members of the NHLPA): Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins.
VEZINA TROPHY (outstanding goaltender): Roberto Luongo, Vancouver Canucks.

The Dominator just broke his tv.
I cannot believe Lundquist got in, let alone as a special 4th nom? Whattt?

Well, Lundqvist arguably has been the biggest reason for the Rangers' success. Hasek was benefitting a lot from Detroit's defense, while Lundqvist did it all on his own. Anyway, Hasek's an incredibly selfish and cheap player, so I'm glad he didn't get in.

It just dawned on me that the CBC announcer is from the EA NHL games. I'm so excited!

The Wings have almost 50 shots...
It seems like every game they have 40+ and can't muster more than 3 goals...

Yep, Jim Hughson.
I'm so pissed at Detroit winning again. The two games they've won in this series, San Jose has taken early 2-0 leads and then just sat back. If they showed any desire to win the series would be over by now. Not that I like the Sharks either, though.
I'm still pulling for an Ottawa/Vancouver final but that doesn't look likely. Ottawa could make it but the Canucks are done for. It's too bad; they're literally the only two teams left that I like.

Looks like the Sharks are chokes once again this year, hard to believe they were a couple non-bad plays from going 3-1 with a stranglehold. Detroit won't let themselves lose at Joe Louis again in this series.

Anaheim Ducks set to play Detroit or San Jose, and Ottawa just won their series, facing either Buffalo or the Rangers in the Conference Finals.
Damn, I didn't think the Devils would do it. I got the Ducks winning in 5, and I can still be right about Detroit in 6 and Buffalo in 7.
