Not a good representative for a country... Huh? What are you talking about? Klassen was on the women's team pursuit for Canada. They won silver. PEACE, Mike. She bowed out of the final against germany, so she wasn't to exhausted to win medals for herself. That's one reason why Anni Friesinger, who participated in three of the four pursuit races was behind her in the single events.
Oh I didn't know that! Canada may have been able to win gold then Oh well she still skated before and she's still great
Greater than Friesinger *hides*

I didn't know China is getting really good at freestyle. A silver yesterday in women, and a gold today in men. That's pretty cool.

Emily Hughes got passed by the Canadian skater. Final group to go, and Sasha Cohen will be No. 2 to skate out of the six.

Hmm, from the score, look like Sasha didn't skate her best. The program component score is great as expected, but the technical element is only 55.22 with 1 point deduction, meaning one jump wasn't a complete success.

USA Today's blog said Sasha didn't have a good warmup either.
2004 World Champion Arakawa just passed her with a score of 125.32.

Looks like it may even be possible for the other American to sneak into medal contention.

Kimmie skated worse, and Sasha is assured of a medal. Only Slutskaya to go.

Wow, Sasha ends up with a silver after Slutskaya fell as well. Congrats to Arakawa, who, according to USA Today's blog, skated a flawless routine.

Just curious, who gives a crap about the total number of medals? Only the gold really counts.

On last night's coverage they had some commentator speculation and they were all like, "It's possible that the top three could all skate flawless routines, and this could be down to the wire..."
But looks like it was pretty much the opposite.

After the Short Program:
1. Sasha Cohen
2. Irina Slutskaya
3. Shizuka Arakawa
After the Free Program:
1. Shizuka Arakawa
2. Sasha Cohen
3. Irina Slutskaya
Is that correct Xia?

That's correct.
Somehow I wonder how Michelle could've done if she hadn't been injured. Unlike 1998 or 2002, where someone skated her best to take the gold, this year was more about who made the fewest mistakes. Even Arakawa didn't do a triple-triple that she normally does and changed it to a triple-double. The gold was certainly there for the taking. But I do enjoy the fresh energy that Hughes and Kimmie brought, and they performed well given the lack of experience.

funny this is similar to 2002 - Sarah Hughes, USA, jumped from 5th place, if I remember, to 1st as everyone before her fell or made a mistake.

I'd say it's not exactly the same. Hughes was quite further behind in 2002, while Arakawa was within 1 point of the lead after the short program. We could consider the top 3 were virtually tied going into the free skate, and their names were pretty much mentioned together when analysts analyzed the race, so it wasn't a big upset as it was in 2002. Arakawa got a little bit less press because her name wasn't as familiar as the other two, but she was a world champion. Sarah Hughes, on the other hand, was only a bronze medalist at the world championship before her stunning performance in the Olympics, where she nailed six triples.

Just FYI - no insult intended - just saying that usually the top leaders needed to make that mistake before the the ones under them could pass them > unless of course everyone was mistake free and they just beat them.
