We should all be proud we watched that game; it is an instant classic that will be talked about for all time... Magnus wrote: Excel wrote: ^it damages kobes legacy a lot...ive said it all year, LeBron is better. Fact is, had Kobe shown up to play tonight, they would won.
The whole team collapsed. Not just Kobe. 1. Kobe was only 6-19 2. he played crap defense Bottom line- if you replace kobe with lebron, lakers win. Thwe finals have showcased what I said all season- kobes not the best in ther nba.

That's the definition of delusional right there Numbers speak for themselves... LeBron leads him in every statistical category except shots pergame (kobe takes on average 1.1 more shots per game than lebron). if lebron had this team, they would smoke everybody.

Oh god! You're pathetic. It's just sad. And how can you people watch the NBA now?! It's always been the worst sport to watch, the worst officiated, and can be so uncompetitive. And now with all of the fixed games becoming public, it's a laughing stock.

LeBron can't score in the 4th quarter of big, close games.
Kobe can, and has proved it.

Kobe can, and has proved it. Uh.... 2007 Eastern Conference Finals. Game 5. Against Detroit. Who, as I have said and has been proven year in and year out, decides not to play in important games. He was pretty much playing a high school team.

Kobe can, and has proved it. Ummm...what? LeBron lead the nba in ppoints per 4th quarter with 9.2; perhaps you missed the playoffs last year; or this year for that matter. Stats: Minutes..PPG..APG..RPG..FG%..SPG..BPG Kobe: 38.53...28.3...5.4...6.3..45.9...1.8.. .5 LeBron: 40.23...30.0...7.2...7.9..48.4...1.8...1.1 LeBron leads Kobe in every major category. Shots per game show Kobe takes 20.8 shots per game while LeBron takes 21.8 shots per game. Lets talk consistancy. Kobe - 82 games - 68 games over 20 points - 54 games over 25 points - 37 games over 30 points - 16 games over 35 points - 7 games over 40 points - 20 double-doubles - 0 triple-doubles LeBron - 75 games (played 7 less games than Kobe) - 69 games over 20 points - 59 games over 25 points - 38 games over 30 points - 18 games over 35 points - 7 games over 40 points - 29 double-doubles - 7 triple-doubles LeBron misses 7 more games than Kobe did but still was more consistant There is no argument, LeBron was the NBA's best player last year.

Ok... so they have the pretty much the EXACT same stats? And then you take into account that LeBron IS Clevelands offense and gets those stats because his team is horrible. If he was on a team that was better, his stats would be reduced DRAMATICALLY.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
Disgusting game to watch. How the Lakers lost is beyond me. I'm so disappointed I probably won't watch the next game. To choke this badly in the playoffs speaks volumes about a team. The Lakers just seem to not be ready for the spotlight yet. How can Kobe play like such garbage in a finals game? Why was Phil Jackson contempt with his bench clowning it up for the third and fourth quarters? Terrible terrible showing and I'm ashamed to be a Lakers fan right now.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
I watched the game in a bar and the Lakers probably didn't deserve to win the game - after a great 1st quarter.
but questions.....
- what were the fouls - I haven't checked yet.
- it seemed to me that the Lakers got 4 foul calls in the last 10 minutes and the Celts got called with 000000000000000000000000000.
Now first with the Lakers going inside of over half their plays, BS that there were no foul calls.
and the one that really bothered me was with 1:44 left and Pierce missed a inside layup and they called a foul > truthfully I didn't see what happened there but I know in the final quarter Kobe went to the hoop numerous times without getting a call. TOTAL BS.
and then later with the second call on Kobe to Pierce defending outside - that probably was a foul - but how many times did that happen outside to the Lakers without ever getting that call - and the Celts gett it with 50 seconds left.
Now all this happened in a 3 point game at the time so that changed the game.
Imagine if in Game 3 when the Lakers came back from 20, the Celts would have gotten 3 fouls in the last 2 minutes > big game changing event.
PS. Just checked the fouls 29-28 so what happened again as in Game 3, Lakers got them early and Celts got them late > crazy!
Boy who said that teh Lakers would get the calls on their home court > F'ing Joke.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
The Celtics were never out of it. At halftime I was thinking, if they can get this down to 10 by the end of the third quarter, they could make a run and at least make it look close. It didn't expect them to outscore the Lakers by 16 in the third, and then to follow that up by outscoring them by 8 in the fourth. What they did tonight was just flat out amazing. And as much as Grill would like to think officating had something to do with this, it didn't. The Celtics played harder, took it right at them, and won (not stole) the game they needed on the road. It's amazing the 180 this game took. I remember towards the end of the first half, ABC zoomed in on Rajon Rondo on the bench and he just had a deer in the headlights look. Then somehow, the Lakers had that look in the final quarter, along with Sasha taking out a chair on the bench. And what a fantastic sound it is to hear the Staples Center crowd not do much of anything except to stay silent for an entire half. One more game to go. Oh and hey, Jeff Van Gundy? Good call in the first quarter.

So has it happened. too bad you can't be fair about how the Celts are going to the line more at the end of the game when it matters most.

I also said it with it in mind that the Celtics were the more aggressive team at home in the first two games. I expected the Lakers to be somewhat more aggressive at home. They have been compared to the games in Boston. That's why they have had the slight advantages at the line. But guess who the more aggressive team was in the final three quarters of this game? Guess why they went to the line more times than the Lakers did when it matters most. Should I bring up the bumping and pushing the Lakers got away with in the first half, or does that not count since it was in the first half? In the long run though, the officiating hasn't had much of an impact on this series as some people might think it has. Outside of Game 2, the fouls have been fairly distributed. They were tonight, and the officiating had no impact on this game.

Joke! at that point, the refs gave the game to the Celts.

 Re: NBA 2007-2008 season
I think the Celtics have A LOT more chemistry than the Lakers at this point. That has a lot to do with Boston because Boston has awesome chemistry, but I dunno. Curt Schilling and Bill Simmons (Not the best sources... I know) both have gone to games in the last week and wrote exclusively about how much of a dick Kobe was on the court. Bitching at his teammates, telling them they're fucking things up, staring them down, etc. all game. And that's pretty much why I don't think the Lakers have a chance to come back in this series. They don't have enough emotion and chemistry to stage an all time series comeback like that. Anyways, I was rooting against Boston this series mostly because I'm jealous, but they deserve it. Congrats Plus it's nice that the legitimate PF star trade (Jefferson, #3 pick, Gomes, Telfair is the best package for the Wolves) beat the all out heist (fucking Kwame Brown's expiring contract?).

So because they're usually called, they should be called automatically? Gotcha. Quote: and aggreeive is one thing but a foul is a foul - you can be agressive but when you are hitting the offensive playere with the foul - a foul should be called > correct? When I said the word aggressive, I'm talking about on offense. The Celtics on offense have been more aggressive than the Lakers had, although the Lakers sure as hell did come out with some authority in the first quarter. It actually looked like Odom and Gasol were about to get going. Quote: and then to only give those 2 calls to Pierce with 144 amd 053 left were a joke if you weren't going to call any others.
at that point, the refs gave the game to the Celts. If anyone gave the game to the Celtics, it was the Lakers, although I'd say it was more a matter of the Celtics taking it away from them. And yeah, those two plays on Pierce couldn't have possibly been fouls. It wouldn't have to do with the fact that Pierce was getting hit. No, that'd be insane.

yes if it was a foul, it should be called. Why should 1 referee decide to change the rules. Sounds like that guy who was cheating.
It really is a joke that you are arguing this. and you won't talk about Pierce for some reason getting calls and going to the line when no one else was.
again I would like to see the foul calls in all of the games for the 4th quarter. Total BS.
Lucky for me, the Lakers aren't my team but I really like to see fair games but the refs are jokes who can't or aren't calling a fair game.

whatever as the Lakers needed what about 50 more trips to the line to make up for Game 1 & 2.
and who cares as the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants are still the best champion of 2008.
