Re: The Official FIFA WORLD CUP 2010 thread
There will be unbelievable pressure for Brazil in 2014, but they will definitely be the heavy favorite. Messi will be 27 by then, basically the same age as when Maradona was at his best and led Argentina to the championship, so Argentina will be right up there too. I'll also keep an eye on Ghana with all their young players from the under-20 championship success and their run this year; they should represent Africa's best chance again at a semifinal berth. After two straight times of all-European final, I don't see it happening again next time.

Re: The Official FIFA WORLD CUP 2010 thread
Well Spain was clearly the better team today (WTF was going on in the German Team?)
oh and I am for Holland. They deserve to win a title. Maybe not the current team but for the time van basten kuliet or what his name was etc played.
Its time for Holland (they won once the European Cup right?)
As for Germany. They start to end as the "Always in the semi-final but not win the titel team". Last titel win WC or EM was 1990 right?

To be fair the best african side at this world cup was Ivory Coast, its just a shame they were in such a hard group. I still dont really understand why Sven didnt give Gervinho that much game time, he was the most influential Ivory Coast player. I couldve seen them making it through to the semis atleast if they were in Ghanas position, posibly the final. . Though i was rooting for Ghana they didnt really play that exciting, and had relatively easy group (Germany aside), but then again if they had Essien playing they couldve done some more damage . . imagine him and Boateng in midfield, hell if the other boateng brother played for Ghana instead of Germany

They won Euro 96, WC final 2002, WC Semi 2006, Euro 2008 Final, WC 2010 Semi . . . Germany weren't too different today than they were against England or Argentina, its just that Spain defended much better than those two teams. Germany were breaking quick today but Spain were with them and tracking back as a team.

Yes, they beat the Soviet team made up largely from the Dynamo Kiev players back in 1988. I remember being really sad, even though I hated Dynamo as any non-Kivan did back then.

Re: The Official FIFA WORLD CUP 2010 thread
I wonder how the match would have been with Müller.
But Spain deserved this in the given match. Our team was tame and not effective at all. The defense was surprisingly good, but the offense sucked at once.
I am now rooting for Spain.

This was my post last october( 2nd post in this thread). I must admit I am happy both spain and holland made it into final. I would prefer dutch win this but I think they have < 30% chance of winning this. Even the psychic octopus is predicting a spanish win.
