In all my years living in phx I've learned that coyotes "fans" have no idea what's going on. And now I know the announcers have no idea what's going on either!
And phx is a college town... A terrible crowd for a hockey game. Obnoxious.

Any talk up there about who the Oilers might pick first?
There's rumours that they're leaning towards Hall, since he played so well with Eberle in the world juniors, but it's really up in the air.
Either way though it sounds like both teams are getting solid and high potential players in Hall and Seguin right, kind of like with Oden and Durant in the NBA draft a couple of years ago (although hopefully they'll both won't be as injury prone as Oden)?
I admit, I know nothing about the NHL draft, but I'm excited about it. The last time the Bruins had a pick this high was when they drafted Joe Thornton. Mix that pick in with a free agent goal scorer and add it to the team the Bruins have now, they have the potential to be very good next year.
Seems like it, though you never know. For every Ovechkin or Crobsy there's a Patrik Stefan or Alexandre Daigle.
Can't believe every 'underdog' team won tonight. Already starting off to be an interesting playoffs.

I know I should be worried about my own team now, but...

Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
I have to say that I didn't expect the Bruins to put up a five spot in any game against Miller. They picked the right game to do it though. And now they're right where they want to be at 1-1 heading home. The only problem though is the Garden all year has been far from intimidating for road teams. Hopefully that changes over the next two games.
Also for the Canadian folk, is there any reason why this series has been airing on CBC? I know Buffalo is practically a part of Toronto...but it still isn't. Or is it because there are a lack of Canadian teams in the playoffs this year?

Between CBC and TSN, all the playoff series get televised up here. It's just that there's only three Canadian teams and TSN's showing one of them, so CBC has to show a couple American series.

Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
It will be interesting to see whether B starts Varlamov or Theodore next game.
A lot is being made of Theodore's 20-0-3 record (and the fact that he was okay in the first game. He gave up a third goal in OT, but he made 35 saves and our defense was shitty), but in those 23 games, he only had two shut outs (against Florida and the Rangers...one of which only required 15 saves). He was also yanked in two games -- against Calgary (after 3 goals on 10 shots in 11 minutes) and against Montreal...in Montreal (4 goals off 25 shots, 37 minutes).
So I'm hoping we go with Varlamov. He was great against the Rangers last year. He's more erratic (he'll give up some shots that he should save) but he also has a knack for robbing goals too, something Theodore doesn't.
Colorado's goalie. They were outshot 51-17, yet won 1-0 in overtime on an own goal by the Sharks.
You do know there's this thing called the internet, right?

Re: NHL 2009-2010 Season
Good win.
Varlamov looked great in the first period. He needs to maintain that energy throughout the game, as he was making lazy saves in the second and third.
Slightly disappointing showing from our top line.
Semin hasn't been a factor all series long. He's not looking for opportunities to pass and is always getting tangled behind the net. He's taking lots of shots, but they've all been weak attempts. Semin is much more dynamic in the Ovechkin/Backstrom line than he is in any other line, so why not switch Semin and Knuble?
Mike Green...not as retarded as in the first two games, but that's not saying much.
This has been the strangest start to the playoffs I've seen. No team has really stepped up, save for Pittsburgh and maybe Washington.
What the hell is with Chicago?

Montreal is definitely outplaying Washington. The stats don't show it, but Varlamov has been stellar tonight. The second goal he gave up was the kind of goal that even a Brodeur would give up.
Last three minutes of the second were mega bizarre. We couldn't get it done with six (!) people on the ice? But once we get called out, we score shorthanded? Haha. Even though Ovechkin served that penalty, Knuble was the one who was supposed to get off the ice then...so nice to see him score shorthanded in exchange for that embarrassment of a too many men on the ice call!

Pretty incredible first round playoffs, in my opinion. 7 of the 8 series will all go to the 6th game at least, with many of them having the potential to get down to game 7. Moreover, the only series not to get to 6 games (ending 4-1) was a big upset win of #7 seeded Philadelphia over #2 seeded New Jersey. Pretty awesome.
