I think it's kinda unfair that Boston gets all the best teams. Share the wealth jerks. :disgust:

What makes them good though is how they've won the games so far. If I heard correctly, their average win is by 18 points. I don't care if they're facing the Washington Generals, that's the sign of a good team.

It's amazing how quickly people forget about Boston sports from 1988-2001. Hell, outside of the '86 Red Sox, no other Boston team had any kind of an impact in sports besides the Celtics in the 1980's. The only team that had any kind of impact during that time were the Boston Bruins who made Finals appearances in '88 and '90. Other than that, no other team got farther than the conference finals with the exception of 1996 New England Patriots who got slaughtered in the Super Bowl.

Boston teams (outside of the Bruins) have just had a great run since '02.

Back to the Celtics again though. Before the beginning of the year I thought 50 games was almost out of the question. I thought they were good, but I thought the bench was suspect to say the least. If these seven games are any indication of how this team is going to play throughout the year and if everyone stays healthy, forget 50, 60 is starting to look [Larry David]pretty.....pretty......pretty........pretty good[/David]. Just look at their upcoming ten games.

Standings are as of 11/15 12:48 AM Eastern

Fri, Nov 16 vs Miami (1-7) 7:30 pm
Sun, Nov 18 at Orlando (7-2) 6:00 pm
Wed, Nov 21 vs Golden State (0-5) 7:30 pm
Fri, Nov 23 vs LA Lakers (4-3) 7:30 pm
Sat, Nov 24 at Charlotte (4-4) 7:00 pm
Tue, Nov 27 at Cleveland (4-5) 12:30 pm
Thu, Nov 29 vs New York (2-4) 8:00 pm
Fri, Nov 30 at Miami (1-7) 8:00 pm
Sun, Dec 02 vs Cleveland (4-5) 12:30 pm
Wed, Dec 05 vs Philadelphia (2-6) 7:00 pm

Combined Record (8 teams): 24-36

They're obviously not going to win every single one of those games. But with the team they have right now, each of those games are very much winnable. For the first time since the early '90s, the Celtics will be favorites in each of those games.

The conversation wasn't about the Celtics despite this being a thread about the Celtics. Whether or not the conversation was meant to turn that way, it did.

The fact about the NBA is that there are no dominant teams outside of the Spurs. And since the Celtics are in the Eastern Conference, they're only going to play them so many times. The Celtics just have to keep winning and their record will dictate how good they are.

Here's how they did last year against those teams.

Rockets - 1-1 (W 77-72) (L 111-80)
Mavericks - 0-2 (106-101) (109-95)
Spurs - 1-1 (W 91-85) (L 93-89)
Suns - 0-2 (116-111) (118-108)

In the six games they lost, they lost by an average of 11.5 points. For a team that was so awful last year, they actually gave those teams a little bit of a challenge.

Let me make a guarantee. If the main three are healthy for those eight games, they will go at least 5-3.

The game this Sunday against Orlando should be very interesting. Of all the teams in the East, Dwight/Rashard/Hedo offers the most compelling trio against Boston's Big Three. A superstar performance here from Dwight could finally put him in as the All-Star starter over Shaq.

Speaking of all-star center starters, who will it be in the West: Duncan or Yao?

Duncan will start at PF I'd imagine.

I haven't watched basketball since Jordan left. Maybe I'll start watching
again if/when his son makes it.

Even so, I've heard the buzz on this Celtics team. They will not go 82 - 0.
It's ridiculous to even think it could happen. Still, if those 3 stay healthy, a
lot of teams will fall to them.

Still don't think the big three could last for the whole season playing 40 minutes per game, maybe Garnett, but not Allen.

Garnett is going to be the MVP for sure though, based on his performance and the record improvement Celtics are going to have. I'm hoping Yao could give him a run, but the last two losses aren't encouraging. I'm pretty certain Rockets have to win the division for Yao to get some serious consideration considering they were already a 50-win team with him missing 32 games last year.

That'll be interesting to see especially with Allen. Right now Pierce and Garnett are averaging 38 minutes a game, while Allen has been on the floor for an average of 40. I'm not sure why Allen, especially coming off surgery, is getting more time than them. That should probably change though as time goes on though.

Well, I am exaggerating ofcourse, but trully feel that those western teams are stronger. I'd give Detroit the edge on east too.

Impressive start for Boston, but they had quite a favorable schedule so far, and by the looks, it will continue to be favorable for some more time. Until 29th ofcourse .
