I share in your hatred of the Sox, but why so much from a Pirates fan?

being a fan of a small market team, i practically dislike any team that spends so much money while my team is left in the gutter.

i dont like the sox because liking the sox is a fad just like liking harry potter or being a metrosexual. im a senior at a western pennsylvania university and i see more sox hats worn than pirate hats.

not only that, but their fans whine about not winning the world series (until this year)... they have over a 100 million payroll and they couldnt win the big one until now. my team has a 35 million dollar payroll if that and they struggle to get great attendance every year even if we have the best ballpark in baseball.

yes, PNC Park is the best ballfield in america. fenway park and yankee stadium are over-rated.

i wanna see boston fans go through what ive gone through 13 straight losing seasons with a whiny owner who doesnt spend enough money on his ballclub to make them better.

pshaw on boston and new york.

So blame it on your owner. Don't get mad at teams with owners that spend money to win games. My favorite team, the Yankees, have a $200 Million dollar payroll, with two real starting pitchers. So don't think spending money automatically means championships.

I'm going to PNC Park on September 3rd so I'll see what type of ballpark it is. I don't think it'll touch the mystique and aura of ither Yankee Stadium or Fenway Park, but of course it'll probably be better just because it's newer.

well then you really have no room to talk then. youre used to a winning team because your owner buys players like baseball cards. i think the red sox and the yankees ruin baseball for a lot of us.

when one team keeps winning and winning it gets really old and thats the way it is with baseball. the red sox and the yankees just keep winning and winning and its boring as hell.

they run away with every player and sign them to multi-million dollar deals. believe me, im liking the fact that the chicago white sox are the best team in the AL. i wish more and more small market teams would stand up for their rights and demand more and more revenue sharing.

have fun at PNC. its a great stadium with a great vista from the seats.

You definetly have me beat when it comes to memorabilia with the Bruins. The top two things I have are a Sergei Samsonov "Golden Bear/Yellow" jersey from the 75th anniversary of the team, and a Ray Bourque Colorado Avalanche jersey (Minus the A).

I can't wait for hockey to start up again this fall. \:D/

This is still pretty funny to read through - especially for baseball fans.

[table][row]The Naughty Nineties (1945)[row][row]Who's on First by Abbott and Costello[row][row]Dexter Broadhurst: Strange as it may seem, they give ball players nowadays very peculiar names.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Funny names?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Nicknames. Nicknames.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Not -- not as funny as my name -- Sebastian Dinwiddie.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Oh, yes, yes, yes![row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Funnier than that?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Oh, absolutely. Yes. Now, on the St. Louis team we have Who's on first, What's on second, I Don't Know is on third --[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: That's what I want to find out. I want you to tell me the names of the fellows on the St. Louis team.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: I'm telling you. Who's on first, What's on second, I don't Know is on third --[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: You know the fellows' names?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Yes.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Well, then, who's playin' first?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Yes.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I mean the fellow's name on first base.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Who.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: The fellow playin' first base for St. Louis.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Who.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: The guy on first base.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Who is on first.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Well, what are you askin' me for?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: I'm not asking you -- I'm telling you. WHO IS ON FIRST.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I'm asking you -- who's on first?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: That's the man's name![row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: That's who's name?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Yes.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Well, go ahead and tell me![row]Dexter Broadhurst: Who.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: The guy on first.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Who.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: The first baseman.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Who is on first.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Have you got a first baseman on first?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Certainly.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Then who's playing first?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Absolutely.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: When you pay the first baseman every month, who gets the money?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Every dollar of it. And why not, the man's entitled to it.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Who is?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Yes.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: So who gets it?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Why shouldn't he? Sometimes his wife comes down and collects it.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Who's wife?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Yes. After all the man earns it.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Who does?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Absolutely.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Well all I'm trying to find out is what's the guy's name on first base.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Oh, no, no, What is on Second base.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I'm not asking you who's on second.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Who's on first.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: That's what I'm trying to find out.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Well, don't change the players around.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I'm not changing nobody.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Now, take it easy.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: What's the guy's name on first base?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: What's the guy's name on second base.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I'm not askin' ya who's on second.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Who's on first.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I don't know.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: He's on third. We're not talking about him.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: How could I get on third base?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: You mentioned his name.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: If I mentioned the third baseman's name, who did I say is playing third?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: No, who's playing first.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Stay offa first will ya?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Well what do you want me to do?[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Now what's the guy's name on first base?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: What's on second.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I'm not asking ya who's on second.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Who's on first.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I don't know.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: He's on third.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: There I go back on third again.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Well, I can't change their names.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Say, will you please stay on third base, Mr. Broadhurst.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Please. Now what is it you want to know?[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: What is the fellow's name on third base?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: What is the fellow's name on second base.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I'm not askin' ya who's on second.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Who's on first.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I don't know.[row]Dexter Broadhurst, Sebastian Dinwiddle: Third base![row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: You got an outfield?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Oh, sure.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: St. Louis has got a good outfield?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Oh, absolutely.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: The left fielder's name?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Why?[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I don't know, I just thought I'd ask.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Well, I just thought I'd tell you.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Then tell me who's playing left field.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Who's playing first.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Stay out of the infield.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Don't mention any name out there.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I want to know what's the fellow's name on left field.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: What is on second.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I'm not asking you who's on second.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Who's on first.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I don't know.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Now take it easy, take it east.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: And the left fielder's name?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Why.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Because.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Oh, he's center field. Will you pick up your hat please.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Center Field.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Pick up your hat. And stop this -- Now look, please.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Mr. Broadhurst.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Yes?[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Wait a minute. You got a pitcher on the team?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Wouldn't this be a fine team without a pitcher.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I don't know. Tell me the pitcher's name.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Tomorrow.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: You don't want to tell me today?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: I'm telling you man.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Then go ahead.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Tomorrow.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: What time?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: What time what?[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: What time tomorrow are you gonna tell me who's pitching?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Now listen, Who is not pitching, Who is on --[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I'll break your arm if you say who's on first.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Then why come up here and ask?[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I want to know what's the pitcher's name.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: What's on second.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I don't know.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle, Dexter Broadhurst: Third base![row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: You gotta catcher?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Yes.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: The Catcher's name?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Today.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Today. And tomorrow's pitching.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Now you've got it.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: That's all, St. Louis got a couple of days on their team. That's all.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Well I can't help that. Alright. What do you want me to do?[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Gotta catcher?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Yes.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I'm a good catcher too you know.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: I know that.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I would like to play for the St. Louis team.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Well I might arrange that.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I would like to catch. Now I'm being a good Catcher, tomorrow's pitching on the team, and I'm catching.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Yes.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Tomorrow throws the ball and the guy bunts the ball.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Yes.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Now when he bunts the ball -- me being a good catcher -- I want to throw the guy out at first base, so I pick up the ball and throw it to who.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Now, that's the first thing you've said right.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT![row]Dexter Broadhurst: Well, that's all you have to do.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Is to throw it to first base.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Yes.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Now who's got it?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Naturally.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Who has it?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Naturally.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Naturally.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Naturally.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: O.K.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Now you've got it.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I pick up the ball and I throw it to Naturally.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: No you don't, you throw the ball to first base.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Then who gets it?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Naturally.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: O.K.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Alright.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I throw the ball to Naturally.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: You don't. You throw it to Who.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Naturally.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Well, naturally. Say it that way.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: That's what I said.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: You did not.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I said I'd throw the ball to Naturally.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: You don't. You throw it to Who.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Naturally.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Yes.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: So I throw the ball to first base and Naturally gets it.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: No. You throw the ball to first base --[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Then who gets it?[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Naturally.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: That's what I'm saying.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: You're not saying that.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Excuse me folks.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: It's alright. I'm sorry folks.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I throw the ball to Naturally.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: You throw it to Who.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Naturally.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Naturally. Well say it that way.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: That's what I'm saying.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Don't get excited. Now don't get excited.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I throw the ball to first base.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Then Who gets it.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: He better get it.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: That's it. Alright now don't get excited. Take it easy.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Hmmph.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Hmmph.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Now I throw the ball to first base, whoever it is grabs the ball, so the guy runs to second.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Uh-huh.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Who picks up the ball and throws it to what. What throws it to I Don't know. I Don't know throws it back to Tomorrow -- a triple play.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Yeah. It could be.[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: Another guy gets up and it's a long fly ball to center. Why? I don't know. And I don't care.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: What was that?[row]Sebastian Dinwiddle: I said, I DON'T CARE.[row]Dexter Broadhurst: Oh, that's our shortstop.[/table]
