 Re: 2010 March Madness
West Virginia knocks off Kentucky. The way we are going, might not have a number 1 seed in the final four.

It's kind of ironic that Duke is now the last one standing, when most people believed they're the weakest and would be the first one to go.

Baylor is a very good team. I am hoping for Baylor and Tennessee so 3 of the teams will be their first final four.

 Re: 2010 March Madness
Since the final four is set, I think the West Virginia and Butler will win and play next monday night. I think West Virginia matches up perfectly against Duke, besides Duke has been murdered by Big East teams in the last 10 years.

Overall, while this tourney has been exciting in the upsets, it's also had pretty bad quality of basketball. Same applies to the season as a whole. I disagree about Kentucky, West Virginia's defense caused them to play that way.

Well Kentucky is a poor 3 point shooting team, they should have stopped shooting them when they went 0-16.

 Re: 2010 March Madness
People keep doubting Duke, and they just keep winning. Baylor is a very good team (and Duke essentially played a road game with the Houston crowd), and many said they were not a good matchup for Duke either, as Duke wouldn't be able to dominate the board again with Baylor's athletic big guys. I have become very appreciative of this version of Duke team, as they seem to have that tenacity and willingness to win ugly and with defense and rebounding, which was lacking in previous years. Even the championship team in 2001 was more about the raw talent than grinding it out and willing itself to a win.

 Re: 2010 March Madness
It's not that I am doubting Duke it is I think WVU and Butler are better teams at the moment. Although I will admit I hate Duke, probably are third behind the Yankees and Raiders as my most hated teams.

The last couple minutes of the Butler game were intense! Thank god they won though.

Now I am going to have to pray they can beat Duke. I am willing to make any sacrifice possible. I can't stand them, let the little guy win.

Random Twitter Search find on Google: Quote: Why do I think a Duke/Butler final will be as exciting/racially symbolic as two loaves of white bread fighting each other? lol

 Re: 2010 March Madness
The best performance of the season by far. When we shoot like that, the team is pretty much unbeatable, but I do expect a much closer game against Butler. Saw the game with a Duke crowd at Mountain View, and it was wonderful. My throat still hurts. This team is so likable, as they're not necessarily winning with the raw talent, but with team work, set plays, and tenacity to battle for every position.

They aren't likable for me I still hate them. I also think 75% of America will be rooting for Butler. People love the underdog and Butler winning would be a great story. I also think they will they have that destiny feeling about them.

I perfectly understand, but I do think you are more hating Duke basketball on principle than this team in particular, since there aren't really any players on this team who trash talk, slap the floor, or step on an opponent's player. In this particular year, they, in some sense in fact, are overachievers too. Nobody picked them to win at the beginning of the year or the beginning of the tournament, so it's not as if they're the overdog from the get-go like UNC or Kansas the last couple of years. If the final had been between Butler and Kentucky this year, it would've been more fitting.

 Re: 2010 March Madness
Duke is still a bigger overdog than Butler. Nobody has picked Butler this entire tourney. Most experts picked UTEP to beat them. You can't really argue that Duke is an underdog since they are a #1 seed. As for my bias, I could never route for Duke, it be like me rooting for the Yankees or Raiders even if I happened to think the players were nice (which I don't in those cases).

 Re: 2010 March Madness
Needless to say, that was the most intense basketball game I felt personally maybe ever. Can't imagine what it would be if the last shot had dropped. Heart goes out to Butler, and would've been pulling for them in any other case.

 Re: 2010 March Madness
this was not a great game at all. neither team shot well. neither team actually did anything that well.
Just shows how average this year was. One of the weaker teams to win the championship in recent memory.

 Re: 2010 March Madness
Very relieved to see that we're not expanding to 96 teams next year. I'll take 68 as the compromise, and hopefully they could leave the topic alone for the foreseeable future.
