Pretty solid overall and one of the stronger MCU entries post Endgame. Liked the whole cast but Florence Pugh is again great. Kinda feels like Bucky was barely in the movie...? Idk wish he had more of a storyline.

Thunderbolts* is full of interesting ideas that could use more fleshing out, but it’s still entertaining. The antagonist is very compelling and I hope we see more of him. The whole visual style uses the washed out tone to it’s advantage.

Post Re: Thunderbolts*
Every so often, a movie transcends its genre—and Thunderbolts does just that. It may be a superhero movie about saving lives on screen, but the most remarkable thing is how it could actually save lives in real life.

There’s a beautiful and powerful irony here: a film rooted in fictional heroics becomes one of the rare stories that reaches beyond the screen to touch something real. Thunderbolts tackles emotional wounds—grief, guilt, trauma—and delivers a message that’s life-affirming. It’s about confronting pain, embracing help, and rediscovering the strength found in friends, family, and forgiveness. For anyone struggling, the film offers not just entertainment, but a moment of recognition and hope. It reminds me of a Pixar film...especially the Inside Out franchise.

And it does all this while still delivering a grounded, gripping, and refreshingly un-cosmic Marvel story. The action is visceral and tightly choreographed. The special effects are top-notch but never distract from the human heart of the story.

The cast brings it home. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is excellent—sharp, layered, and emotionally resonant. Florence Pugh once again proves she’s the soul of the next-gen MCU. The entire ensemble breathes life into a group of characters that feel less like a team and more like a fractured family struggling toward something better.

It made me laugh. It made me tear up. And most of all, it made me feel like my ticket was a worthwhile investment—not just in a movie, but in a story with something meaningful to say.

Thunderbolts may be fiction—but its impact could be very real.

Grade: A

Pretty fun, especially the first half or 2/3 are quite good. I like the comedy and the action. The last third is a bit generic again, think they fumbled it, not serious enough and neither comedic. The turn of the Sentry was expected, but also happened quick and then he was quite easily defeated again as well. Good cast though, Dreyfus makes every film better and while not a big fan of that Walker Cap guy, it's a pretty good ensemble with chemistry. Because it's mostly good, I'm overall positive.

Very pleased with how this one turned out. The pacing alone makes it feel like an Infinity Saga as its not just bouncing around all over the place with a "this thing happens and then this thing happens" style of storytelling. Everything gets time to breathe and develop, which works especially well for the Yolena and Bob relationship.

Spoiler: show
Taskmaster dying right away was funny. :funny:

Saw it again. Probably the best made MCU film in god knows how long. I have no big problems with it tbh, its an easy watch. Hopefully future MCU films focus more on character like this one.

I have tickets for tomorrow night but haven't seen Black Widow. Do I have to, or can it work as a stand-alone? I thought it looked good, but just don't feel like watching it before seeing this.

It’s mostly standalone imo, all you’ll miss is character development

Yeah I'd say Black Widow is the only one you do need to watch. It's very much Florence Pugh's movie. Falcon/Winter Soldier would help with a few characters but not necessary.

I just watched a recap of Black Widow on YouTube. That worked well enough.

While it may not top my list of superhero flicks, the surprisingly nuanced exploration of mental health makes Thunderbolts perhaps the most relatable one for me. It was beautifully handled, especially for a Marvel movie.

Also, Florence Pugh and Lewis Pullman are great as usual.
