 Re: Longlegs
While I had some issues with the third act, specifically the feeling that the story lacked resolution at the end, this movie is really something special. Just incredible filmmaking, every single shot is a gorgeous piece of art despite also being grimey and creepy as hell. Will have to check out the director's other work now - they certainly made a fan out of me.
8/10 for now - definitely room to improve with a second viewing.

 Re: Longlegs
Maika Monroe was excellent. Think the marketing had me thinking this would be something different and I also had problems with the final act but overall pretty solid film.

 Re: Longlegs
This was such an effective chiller. If you go to a comedy, you want laughs. If you go to a horror, you want to be scared, and that happened to me last night. It reminded me of seeing The Grudge in 2004 on my own at 11pm, and I walked home alone that night too. It made me pretty nervy, and I applaud any film that can do that to me at this age. Cage is excellently creepy, and the film is shot in such a way that multiplies his creepiness. He almost isn't Cage for most of the film. But he does go 'full Cage' a few times, which I wish he hadn't (because the killer-with-a-feminine-voice is much scarier) but it doesn't hurt the overall experience. Maika Monroe is becoming independent horror's little starlet and she does a decent job again. Music fits. Camerawork is amazing. All-in-all a bloody good film, deserving of its box office receipts.

Such commitment to such stupidity. But hey, you can’t go wrong with T-Rex.
Also, I think “Satanic Panic” went out of style (is there any other reason this is set in 1995?) right around the same time we decided albinism in movies shouldn’t mean you’re automatically weird or evil. Or does he spray paint it on? If he does then he has no right making fun of that girl while in the car because that is fucking weird.
I wish I saw what everyone else did. It's a shame because it starts off extremely well. Then we see Nic's face, the movie becomes way too predictable, and it falls off a fucking cliff.
1.5/5
** - There’s a better than decent chance that’s not the line. I only got a couple of hours of sleep last night.
