 The Bikeriders
Quote: The Bikeriders is a 2023 American drama film written and directed by Jeff Nichols. It tells a fictional story inspired by the 1967 photo-book of the same name by Danny Lyon depicting the lives of the Outlaws MC, a motorcycle club founded in McCook, IL . The film stars Jodie Comer, Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Michael Shannon, Mike Faist, and Norman Reedus.
Focus Features acquired the film from producer New Regency, scheduling it for its current release date of June 21, 2024.

 Re: The Bikeriders
I enjoyed it as I was watching it, but shortly after it ended my first thought was, “That’s it? Who cares?”. Coming from Jeff Nichols that’s disappointing.
One criticism I don’t get though are those calling it cosplay or dress up. Isn’t that the point for most of these guys, at least the original members?
Jodie Comer also deserved the final shot. Her character was the only one I ever really cared about.
3/5

 Re: The Bikeriders
Felt like there was a great movie in there somewhere, but it was a little bit slow and Butler's character's appeal to people being that he's an enigma where wants to do is ride, also created less story potential like how they never really get into it at home, they have a Karen Hill but not a Henry Hill interest wise. I did appreciate with how the the more innocent version of the motorcycle club got overrun by hippies and actual criminal pieces of shit, it represented the inevitably of change and the feeling that the frustration that a younger generation just doesn't get it the same way, which no doubt some of the people in the generations before the boomers felt about how fast things changed around the late 60s. Meanwhile these guys are obsessed with biker gang style masculinity, but it's all kind of inauthentic to be cool and copying guys like Brando and Dean, Hardy's character doesn't realize that being a truck driver who goes home to bang his wife instead of being out male bonding with the biker bros would be masculine, he didn't need to create a fake tough guy persona.

 Re: The Bikeriders
Haven't watch it yet but the common thread I'm hearing is that it could have been so much more.
I do wish it was someone other than Nichols that directed it as I find his films good to look at but a slog to get through (perhaps Mud is an exception).
