 Re: Home Team
This is mostly a failed hotchpotch of other better children sports and football movies. Kevin James is pretty good, and others like Lautner and Schneider do just fine too, but the film really drops a level with the vomiting scene and the boiler plate sport film tropes. The first hour or so is kind of OK, and the Sean Payton angle (incl. cameo) is fun enough, but it has very little else to offer, and when it's cliched story winds down toward the end it gets pretty bad. It does one thing different, by not having them win the last game, and its a nice realization in the sense that it's kids playing sports in the end. The kid actors are not really good in this either however, but it's mostly the material that's just too kiddish and silly. Not a complete failure, but barely in the C cat.
