Kate Winslet is magnetic from start to end and she is equally matched by Saoirse Ronan. Both these actress give awards worthy performance. The story though is a little too slight and by the time it flies we come to a sudden end but it really works as a character study. The supporting cast is solid as well but they are not given much to work with. As a period drama no much of the world is explored throughout the movie but its still effective enough thanks to the leads.

It's a baity period piece with Winslet and Ronan. We've all seen this a hundred times. Buttt .... I mean I'm not gonna compare it to the scenes in Blue Is The Warmest Color or anything, but if you're someone who has a big crush on Saoirse ... Let's just say it works.

PS with spoilers: I thought the ending was pretty obvious - Her work was always going to come between them even if it was what brought them together in the first place. Yet a lot of people online are saying its ambiguous and could just as easily be interpreted as them figuring out how to live happily ever after. Sequel???
