The concept of mixing period war story with supernatural elements is intriguing but it looses its merits after first few minutes. The scares become predictable as the movie goes on with only saving grace being the haunted house setting. The twist ending does not work for this kind of story there is just so much you can mux in a single story. The acting is fine for the most part of having Zane killed in first 5 minutes was already a red flag about the twist ending.

The second half of this really ruined it for me, especially that ridiculous third act twist. I was actually kind of enjoying it up until then and I thought the acting was really solid across the board, especially from Kyle Gallner and Theo Rossi. I loved the location and the atmosphere, but the jumpscares annoyed the hell out of me and overall its just a waste of potential.
