Lance Henriksen is brilliant in this and he is well matched with Viggo Mortensen who does his debut as a director here. The relationship exploration is brilliant here even though at times it gets repetitive with the flashbacks of a abusive parent and the sufferings that the family has because of that. It finally does blow off towards the finale between the two leads to a satisfactory bickering. Yet it feels that there is something missing towards the end and I was surprised that these two are still in a relationship, given that Mortensen is shown to have a happy gay family (would have been worth to explore that instead of going back and forth with his childhood). Promising debut direction from Viggo for sure.
