 Sound of Metal  Quote: Sound of Metal is a 2019 American drama film directed by Darius Marder and starring Riz Ahmed, Olivia Cooke, Paul Raci, Lauren Ridloff and Mathieu Amalric. It tells the story of a drummer who begins to lose his hearing.
The film had its world premiere in the Platform Prize program at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2019.

Re: Sound of Metal A pretty great drama with equally fantastic performances from both Riz Ahmed and Olivia Cooke. The sound design is awesome too and easily the best of the year IMO.

Re: Sound of Metal Agreed with the sound design, its really great which was a must for this movie. I didn't love Riz Ahmed at the start of the movie but he made me love him as the movie went on. The drama is pretty great as we haven't seen many movies focusing on deaf people. Having started with a musician was a great choice because adds so many layers in the end. I didn't love his decision to leave the deaf people so quickly because it made the middle act sort of unnecessary but that part also helps him grow as a human being, overall a very satisfactory movie. Very impressed with Darius Marder's work here as well.

Re: Sound of Metal A really good film with an outstanding Riz Ahmed. Olivia Cooke and Paul Raci are very good too and it's just a solid all around drama. It also pretty much just goes through the regular motions of story telling and it doesn't feel particularly special in that regard, but I was engaged in it and would be happy for Ahmed to get an acting nom.
