Black Water is a 2007 Australian horror film written and directed by Andrew Traucki and David Nerlich. The film, an international co-production of Australia and the United Kingdom, is set in the mangrove swamps of northern Australia, and stars Diana Glenn, Maeve Dermody and Andy Rodoreda. Inspired by the true story of a crocodile attack in Australia's Northern Territory in December 2003,[2] a pregnant woman, along with her boyfriend and her sister, take a boat tour of a mangrove swamp, where they are terrorised by a ferocious saltwater crocodile.

This is a tense thriller once the trio gets stuck in the swamps. The crocodile visuals aren't great and you don't see the croc enough, there is also not explanation why it leaves the sister for her to find the gun. The three actors do really well and genuinely care for them. I wish we can get this remade instead of the sequel that we got this year.

I'd still put Rogue and Crawl over this one, but its definitely up there with some of the best killer croc flicks you can find. It's more about the suspense/tension than the actual carnage, but its so well done in this movie, especially the scenes with the croc which don't always look great effects wise, but it still worked well enough for me.

If you enjoyed this movie you might also be interested in checking Andrew Traucki's The Reef as well which is sort of the same suspense/tension approach except with Great White sharks.
