 Da 5 Bloods
Quote: Da 5 Bloods is a 2020 American war drama film directed and produced by Spike Lee. Along with Lee, the film was produced by Jon Kilik, Beatriz Levin, and Lloyd Levin and executive produced by Mike Bundlie and Barry Levine. The film stars Delroy Lindo, Jonathan Majors, Clarke Peters, Norm Lewis, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Mélanie Thierry, Paul Walter Hauser, Jasper Pääkkönen, Jean Reno, and Chadwick Boseman. The plot follows a group of aging Vietnam War veterans who return to the country in search of treasure they buried while stationed there.
Originally written by Danny Bilson and Paul De Meo in 2013, the script was re-worked by Lee and Kevin Willmott following the pair's BlacKkKlansman (2018). The cast joined in February 2019 and filming began a month later, lasting through June and taking place in Southeast Asia. With a production budget of $35–45 million, it is among Lee's most expensive films.
Netflix digitally released Da 5 Bloods worldwide on June 12, 2020.[2] Rotten Tomatoes said critics found the film to have "fierce energy and ambition" and to be one of Spike Lee's "most urgent and impactful films".

 Re: Da 5 Bloods
Despite the long running time I really did enjoy this, although I do wish it was set more during the Vietnam War era. It was still very well done for the most part and the performances are strong all around, especially Delroy Lindo who gave an almost Oscar worthy performance IMO. Seriously, next to Hugh Jackman's performance in Bad Education its easily my second favorite performance of the year. I'd put it about on par with Blackkklansman honestly.

Yeah, this was pretty darn good even if needed to cut by about fifteen minutes. Instantly onne of my favorite Spike movies. I thought he did a much better job of connecting it to the current Black Lives Matter movement than in Blackkklansmen, where the movie would stop so they could all wink at the audience. Very naturally done here and the end put a lump in my throat. Fight against the British twice for your country's freedom, fight against the south for your brother's, fight against the Germans for the world, fight against the Vietnamese for capitalism and still get treated like 3/5ths of a person? It's infuriating. We deserve the fires.

 Re: Da 5 Bloods
This was excellent and probably one of my favorite films Spike Lee has ever done. Delroy Lindo is a force here. A-

Agree with most of the posters here even though I did feel that Spike Lee forced his agenda it was still lesser and connected with this story better. Its certainly a little longer than it needed to be. I just could not bring myself to care for the metadata Spike Lee adds here. Delroy Lindo was so good in here specially in the second half with his solo scenes. I can see him getting an Oscar nomination for supporting role and maybe even a win.
