I enjoy period films a lot but honestly I was just not interested in this during the first half. The second half is when it got more interesting. Not enough for me to find it more than just OK overall. Anya Taylor-Joy is really good though and it is nicely made. I'll go C+.

Anya Taylor-Joy carries this movie and makes it watchable and the second half is pretty good. The setup to second half is just there, its neither funny neither does it help us to immerse in the era. The supporting cast is not given enough time to shine. The production values and design are beautiful to look at. The friendship angle is given WAY too much attention here but gets resolved unconvincingly in the end.

Obviously Jane Austin adaptations are not usually my go-to films, but I found Emma to be very charming. Anna Taylor is a Joy and continue to cement herself as one of the hottest rising actresses. Her fuckin eyes in this do more than the lines and lines of dialogue about love and friendship.
