Quote:
She's So Lovely is a 1997 American romantic drama directed by Nick Cassavetes, written by John Cassavetes. At the time of its release, it received special attention because, eight years after his death, it was the first (and still only) posthumous film to feature previously unreleased material from John Cassavetes.

The film stars Sean Penn and John Travolta as the respective men who bid for the affection of Maureen Murphy Quinn (Robin Wright). Harry Dean Stanton co-stars as a friend of Penn's character, and James Gandolfini plays the abusive neighbor.

This movie is mental. Robin Wright Penn gives a tremendous performance as a crazy scag-head type, but every character in this movie is nuts, and just horrible to watch. Even John Travolta. He is seemingly a normal father of three, but everything he does is not how I think a man in his position would act. I suppose he would have to be doolally to even be interested in a woman like Maureen. I was surprised to see Talia Shire and Burt Young as characters living together. It’s very much a wink to Rocky, even to the extent that the main characters shout up to their window as Rocky did to Father Carmine in Rocky. What’s weird, though, is that Shire isn’t in the credits but Young is, despite Young having no lines of dialogue and Shire does all the talking. The weird cherry on top for this weirdo movie.
