The Upside is a 2019 American comedy-drama film directed by Neil Burger and written by Jon Hartmere. It is an American remake of the French 2011 film The Intouchables, which was itself inspired by the life of Philippe Pozzo di Borgo. The film follows a paralyzed billionaire (Bryan Cranston) who strikes up an unlikely friendship with a recently paroled convict (Kevin Hart) whom he hires to take care of him. Nicole Kidman, Julianna Margulies, and Aja Naomi King also star. It is the third remake of The Intouchables after the Indian Oopiri and the Argentinian Inseparables.

Caught this again yesterday (after first liking it in theaters). It was a good re-watch with great acting from all the three leads. It pales in emotional impact of the original while does a better job at comedy. The central story and friendship dynamic doesn't connect as the original but still stays very good. I would have liked this more if they have dialed down on the poor-guy in a rich man's world and concentrated more on the friendship transforming the two central characters. Hart tried hard but his character is built as irresponsible and as the protagonist his journey doesn't merit redemption. Cranston was possibly the perfect fit for this role conveying a lot of emotions through his eyes (even better than François Cluzet in the original). Kidman shines in a very small role as well.

Yeah I caught this on cable not that long ago and it's surprisingly solid. One of the very few roles where Kevin Hart didn't annoy the hell out of me and I thought he had pretty good chemistry with Cranston too. Kidman was really good here as well.
