Considering its wildly inauspicious origin (it was produced for approximately $400,000 alongside a Children of the Corn picture because Dimension Films has to produce a new sequel or reboot every few years to maintain the rights to both franchises), the tenth (!) Hellraiser film is not so bad, particularly within the notoriously inferior realm of not-sanctioned-by-Clive-Barker direct-to-home-video Hellraiser sequels. With its police-procedural core, it mostly plays as a variation on the Saw franchise injected with a few Pinhead set pieces, including a ludicrously disgusting prologue and a fan-servicing "Jesus wept!" reference at the end. The production values are low and the acting bland, but it is more pedestrian than offensively bad, and the new character of the Auditor (a neurotic, sin-tallying Hell clerk with a savagely disfigured visage and a dry sense of humor) is a genuinely entertaining inclusion.
