 Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life  Quote: Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life is an upcoming American family comedy film directed by Steve Carr and written by Chris Bowman, Hubbel Palmer, and Kara Holden. It is based on the 2011 novel of the same name by James Patterson and Chris Tebbits. The film stars Griffin Gluck, Lauren Graham, Rob Riggle, Retta, Thomas Barbusca, Andy Daly, and Adam Pally. Principal photography began on November 21, 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia. Re: Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life is the second movie I've seen recently, that lacks zip. The central character's story is cool, I hadn't read the graphic novel, so I got to ride the full roller coaster. The rule-breaking aspect of the story was a bit disorderly, though I get that it was also part of the exposition. The actors were suitably cartoonish and yet carried the darker undertones as well. If MS:TWOMY had had a director who could have applied the requisite zip,it could have been a classic, instead of merely very good. I await the 2027 reboot. *B+*
(Fun Fact: The school janitor is played by Efren Ramirez, better known as Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite.)
