Re: These Final Hours
With the end of the world only hours away, the impetuous and self-absorbed James (Nathan Phillips) leaves his pregnant lover (Jessica De Gouw) to travel into Perth for a drug-fueled final party. He is waylaid when he rescues an abducted child, Rose (terrific child actress Angourie Rice), desperate to find and reunite with her father. They spend their final hours navigating a city plummeting into criminality, debauchery, and despair.
Shot with a harsh, perfectly queasy orange-yellow tint, These Final Hours is an involving apocalypse yarn pivoting on a predictable, but still poignant character arc—the vapid James finds purpose as he contends with immediate mortality—and blending various presumed influences (28 Days Later, Children of Men, Mad Max, The Road) into its own captivating, nasty, odd concoction. And fans of contemporary Australian cinema will recognize many of the country's finest up-and-coming talents in small roles, including Daniel Henshall (The Snowtown Murders; The Babadook) and Sarah Snook (Predestination).

Re: These Final Hours
I was not aware it. I assume they will significantly expand upon the original film's story, showing several characters' lives, trials, and tribulations as they contend with an impending, unavoidable apocalypse.
It could definitely be solid. The idea is poignant and scary on a primal level, which is obviously why apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic themes are so prevalent in popular culture.

Re: These Final Hours
I just find the idea ridiculous to expand a film with the main point being that there are only hours left until THE END into an ongoing TV series...
I liked the movie, though. It is conventional, but it works emotionally.
