I enjoyed this quite a bit actually. It's definitely on the better side of TV adaptations and successfully brings the energy and fun back. It mostly works because it feels more like a 4 episode mini series and it mostly works, and most importantly it's story is resolved very well (But does indeed leave it open for another entry, but it's also quite a nice send off in the post credits.) It's a little small for the big screen as a result, but the chemistry is still there and there is more than enough funny moments. The cast has their roles down pat and while some of the jokes were on the safe side, the good definitely outweighed the bad. Great cameos all around and Haley Joel Osment in particular plays a very good sleaze (Or as Ari calls him a White Trash Forrest Gump)

Fans of the series, stop on by. If your'e not a fan. It's harmless enough. B+

Sounds good then. If it captures the fun of the first few seasons I'll be happy.

Post Re: Entourage
First time in the world of Entourage. I think it's the last.

This is a 12-year-old boy's wet dream. Coming from a grown-up in Doug Ellin (presumably), it's a little off-putting (by a little I mean a lot). This movie has its head so far up its own ass its devouring its own tongue...which is a shame because there's quite a lot to like here, outside of the morally repugnant stuff (mostly involving women). It's funny. The movie has that going for it. Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) is a great character (even though it makes no sense why he'd avoid his former assistant's wedding...he's not overtly homophobic) and without him the movie is a big nothing.

But back to the women thing. If they're not good for fucking, randomly being topless, eatin' each other out, being baby makers, and being manipulative or controlling, what are they good for in the world of Entourage? Nothing. I could've appreciated that as a teenager. I can still appreciate it as an eight minute porn clip. But in an actual movie? What the fuck is Sloan's deal? What was with that scene in the park? That was kind of sad. She can't fuck anyone else because she's pregnant with her belly gettin' in the way (BULLSHIT), "E" is fucking everything in sight, she knows it, hates him because he fucked her stepmom (that had to have been some episode), yet in the next breath as she drives away she says SHE WANTS TO GIVE IT ANOTHER GO? Who is this person, cause she doesn't exist in any reality.

But the leads and the so called drama they're put through? There's nothing there. If the screenwriter (who also happens to be the producer, director and creator of the show) doesn't give a shit, why should I? Let's recap...

Haley Joel Osment likes Emily Rataja..."Tits McGee"
Vince knows "Tits McGee", tells HJO to give it a go (in a rightfully "he'll never get her kind of way)
HJO hangs with her all night trying to get in her.

THE REST WE DON'T SEE.

Vince takes her home.
HJO stalks them.
Vince sleeps with her.
HJO gets mad, stops funding.

The drama, or the irony, is if Vince hadn't done anything, he would've got the money, the film would've been finished, and Ari wouldn't have had to put everything on the line (WHYYY?). Instead that all doesn't happen, the "drama" happens, and by the end Vince has moved on to another girl making the previous drama UTTERLY POINTLESS.

Turtle's story is that he wants to fuck Ronda Rousey.

"E's" story is that he's got his former girl knocked up, but is out there fucking anyone he can get a hold of. The two women he does get a hold of somehow know one another, fake having an STD and a pregnancy, all to teach him a lesson that any person with a brain should already know. And this is what this film considers to be a character arc.

And then there's Johnny Drama. He also comes closest to having an arc, and technically he does. He goes from being humiliated by having a video of himself jerking off to having Vince's movie turn out so well ($450 million worldwide!) that he gets nominated for a Golden Globe (this might be the smallest stretch the film commits), and wins. At least he's sorta funny.

The film also commits a big no-no in that it only shows about a minute of Vince's film. We're supposed to believe that Ari, Vince and Entourage love the film (of course they would since they made it), but we don't see enough of it. Yet it's award worthy apparently even though all we've seen is Vince as a DJ, a bunch of people dancing in the rain, a topless woman dancing, some sort of police in riot gear doing riot control kind of things like shooting rubber bullets, and Vince's eyes turning yellow. I think we got even more of the fake film in the teaser for the actual film than what actually winds up in the actual film (actually). Just give me something to cling to.

And all the cameos! They come off as nothing but desperation, but being the biased fan that I am, I did enjoy the Patriots cameos (Gronkowski might have the biggest laugh in the film). Ed O'Neil also got a laugh out of me (and what the fuck is he doing here?).

So yeah. I didn't like it. Which is a shame because I think even with the tiniest bit more of an effort, this could've been good. With an even greater effort (like someone other than Ellin giving it a rewrite) it could've been great. Instead it's just complete fucking laziness.

Post Re: Entourage
Holy fuck. I watched all eight seasons of the series and even when it was bad (and it had some definite low points), nothing compares to how borderline unbearable this movie is. Jeremy Piven is basically the only one who comes out unscathed. It's easily a contender for the year's worst film. This is a lazy, dull and unfunny comedy where basically nothing happens in the long run. The "plot" is stupid, there's no dramatic conflict and all of the characters come off as unlikable. The celebrity cameos are also so overdone and pointless - most just amount to the characters saying "Hey, there's (insert celebrity here)" and moving along. All of the four leads seem bored, I found Haley Joel Osment incredibly obnoxious as the villain, and Ronda Rousey, Emmanuelle Chriqui and Emily Ratajkowski (and really basically any female character) all have incredibly underwritten roles and barely make an impression. The biggest crime this movie commits is that it is boring. I couldn't wait for it to end. The only one who gives the proceedings any sort of life is Piven, who is still fun as Ari Gold and has the closest thing resembling an arc here. It's sad that people think this is an actual representation of what goes on in Hollywood - it's not even fun on an escapist fantasy level. D+

It's amazing how a concept which once fired on all cylinders became so bad. In the middle of the film when we see the video of the Drama jerking off, I legit. rolled my eyes so hard.

The problem with the show was it got extremely repetitive and stale as a result and my god, the movie just does it AGAIN. I CANNOT believe the decided to do the "E and Sloan separate and get back together" thing AGAIN. Good lord it was the worst part of the show and the brought it back into the movie? Eric Murphy was the show's worst, most annoying character and for some bizarre reason, they keep pushing him. In a show/movie that's so exaggerated it's comical, the idea that E gets all sort of action (there is one part where he supposedly has sex/could have sex with 3 girls) is by far the most ridiculous. I don't think I've ever rolled my eyes so much during a movie, nor has a movie I've seen ever failed so often at being funny.

I honestly have no idea how I was once a loyal fan of this show
. The final seasons were horrible and somehow the movie is even worse.

What a shame, because at it's peak, the show was so hilarious it was legit. additively hilarious.

I'm glad that someone else who watched the show hated it. It was one of the laziest and most unnecessary movies I've seen in years.

What is funny is if they announced a prequel chronicling Ari Gold's rise to power....gold mine.

I'd see an Ari Gold movie in a second.

Ari, Lloyd, and Drama always made the show for me. Turtle is neither funny nor annoying, he's just there. Vince is kind of the same way though when you're supposed to think he's a hot shit actor, it can be hard to believe. E is just painful.

I had a good time with this. It's definitely a bit overlong, but the after credit wedding scene was nice to top if off. I thoroughly enjoyed the show, and this just feels like a binge watch of episodes. It definitely doesn't reach the heights of some of the show's best, and it has some bad moments, as pretty much everything E in the movie I felt. But because of the nostalgia with the show I liked it overall. Ari and Drama are just funny regardless in any situation, and every little cameo I enjoyed a lot. I was quite surprised by Joel-Osmont, as I thought his performance was good, even though he played a pretty silly character.

In the end, I'm glad they made this film, revisiting some of themes I've loved from the show. It doesn't reach the same heights, but it does well enough for a feature film.
