Quote:
The Girl Next Door is a 2004 American teen film starring Elisha Cuthbert, Emile Hirsch, and Timothy Olyphant, directed by Luke Greenfield, about an honor student who falls in love for the first time with the girl next door, but finds the situation becoming complicated after he learns that she is a former porn star.

Hilarious film.

Really liked it. It's not your average teen movie at all, I own it.

9/10 (A-)

Very mediocre. Not particularly funny, as it can't decide to be a straight comedy or have some drama in it. The performances are ok, but the story didn't go anywhere, and all the twists are lame. C-.

This was one of the craziest movies ever made, but it is funny and entertaining, but weird.

I enjoyed it. A nice little gem, really. It wasn't anything amazingly special, but I was entertained. B+, definately standout.

I'd like to call it an instant classic, but maybe it's not quite at that level. Definitely a movie worth owning. Timothy Olyphant rocks in the movie! So does the Tripod. Oh, and that Elisha Cuthbert... she's pretty good, too.

Grade: A-

Excuse me? That Elisha Cuthbert? She makes more money in a second than you will in your entire life! Well, maybe not, but she's hot! Don't refer to her as that! Miss!

It's called a clever and witty joke. Look into it!

Don't worry, I grew up with Elisha. Not as my friend (hell, that'd be sweet), but every morning before school, I would watch Popular Mechanics for Kids. Then she got her role in 24, and now she's making movies! I feel like I've known her since the start, in a stalker kind of way. :)

Is there a hotter woman than Elisha Cuthbert right now? This was a very very good film that obviously got it's inspiration from Risky Business. A great premise and very well acted and surprisingly sweet. Timothy Olyphant is outstanding also and the two friends are hilarious. One of the more surprising films in the last 5 years.

Funny and raunchy during the first half, just like the American Pie films, it then got bogged down in its plot and the ending didn't make too much sense. Too many holes. Still, the performances and story up until then were quite good.

I really liked it - it's a very sweet and funny fantasy comedy, in fact almost too sweet for my taste - I could've definitely gone for some more American Pie-esque crudeness. Some had said that it was an example of the "mainstreaming of porn", I suppose that case could be made, though in my viewing of the movie, it really just made for a colourful setting for this comedy. Elisha Cuthbert is indeed super hot, yet retains the innocent look this role demands. The 3 lead nerds were very good (especially Emile Hirsch), as were all the other supporting characters. My one complaint is that the relationship between the Elisha and Emile wasn't sufficiently developed (I know, high hopes, but it's been done well in this kind of movie before, eg. esp.: Bubble Boy). What was very well done was the portrayal of the cliques of high school, especially since the nerd clique were the protaganists here.

If you like fantasy teen comedies, you'll certainly like The Girl Next Door - come to think of it - it actually is the guy's version of Pretty Woman!

4 out of 5.

One of the better teen comedies in recent years, even though it's somewhat of a ripoff on Risky Business.
