Re: Song of the Sea (2014)
It's really, really beautiful. Hand-drawn animation is such a treasure these days, especially when its conveyed with such a sense of magic and love. However, as whimsical and fun as the story wants to be, it never
quite congealed for me. Things kind of just happened for the sake of moving the characters along. I preferred the director's previous film, The Secret of Kells, by a thin margin.
THAT SAID, this is still a delightful treat, I watched it twice in as many days. The scene near the end where
is a joy, and made me realize this movie is
kind of an inverse of The Little Mermaid story.
Still borderline
B+ / A-, haven't made up my mind.
