 The Rewrite
The Rewrite Quote: The Rewrite is a romantic comedy film starring Hugh Grant as a washed-up screenwriter who begins teaching at a state university and Marisa Tomei as a single mom with whom the screenwriter finds romance. The film is directed by Marc Lawrence based on a screenplay he wrote. It began development at Castle Rock Entertainment in October 2012, and filming began in New York in April 2013.
The Rewrite premiered at a gala screening at the Shanghai International Film Festival on June 15, 2014. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters in the United Kingdom on October 8, 2014. A theatrical release in the United States is scheduled for February 13.

 Re: The Rewrite
I enjoyed it, but I actually agree with certain reviews that suggest it could have used a rewrite of its own. It has interesting things to say about Hollywood as well as small town campus life, but instead of fully exploring them kind of shoehorns in a cute albeit formulaic love story. It also runs too long and should have wrapped up sooner. That being said, Hugh Grant and Marisa Tomei are both incredibly charming, and J.K. Simmons has a fun supporting role. I did wish Allison Janney was given more to do as her character was fairly one-dimensional. B-

 Re: The Rewrite
This is a missed opportunity. Best Grant role in years but he is so much better than this. The person that wrote it took so little effort for its film business references. This could and should have been epic. As is , it's only a par among Grants romantic comedies, and on that level it's only music and Lyrics levels. The film should have been about the kid that wrote s better screenplay than he ever wrote
