Police Story 3: Super Cop (Chinese: 警察故事3超級警察; Cantonese Yale: gíng chaat gu sih sāam: Chīu kāp gíng chaat), also known as Super Cop in North America, is a 1992 Hong Kong action film starring Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh. Jackie reprises his "Kevin" Chan Ka-Kui character, a Hong Kong cop from Police Story and Police Story 2. It is the first in the series not to be directed by Jackie, with Stanley Tong taking over the helm. It is also the last appearance in the series for Maggie Cheung as Jackie's girlfriend, May. Another significant aspect of this film is that it was the first Jackie Chan film from Hong Kong to use sync sound, allowing all the actors' voices to be recorded as they spoke on scene, rather than dubbed over by different actors later.

Police Story 3: Super Cop

Much less Kung Fu and fist fighting in this one. More of an action film. A change of directors can bring about such changes. But the quality is back up to the level of the first, and possibly beyond. The second got bogged down in girlfriend nonsense which bloated the run time to 2 hours. This is back at a quick 90 minutes, and it works well. The stunts are great, with comedy in there and lots of gun action. Michelle Yeoh is positively delicious, and Maggie Cheung also makes an appearance. We travel to China and Malaysia, and the stunts are bigger (involving a helicopter and a scrambler). I love this Police Story trilogy. In many ways it reminds me of the Mission: Impossible films in how each film has stark differences because of the director (though in this case the first two are made by Chan and they are the same in style and tone).
