Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros.Quote: Super Mario Bros. is a 1993 American science fiction fantasy adventure comedy film directed by Rocky Morton and Annabel Jankel. A loose live-action adaptation of the 1985 Nintendo video game of the same name, the film stars Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo, Dennis Hopper and Samantha Mathis. It tells the story of the Mario brothers, Mario and Luigi, as they find a parallel universe, where King Koopa is a dictator. They have to rescue Princess Daisy and stop Koopa from attempting to merge the dimensions so that he could become a dictator of both worlds.
Super Mario Bros. was released on May 28, 1993 in the United States. Though a critical and financial failure, the film was nominated for two Saturn Awards (one for Best Costume, the other for Best Make-up).

Re: Super Mario Bros.
I just discovered this movie, and it has made me numb to everything. The most unfaithful adaptation of any source material I've ever seen. The "goombas", "yoshi", Toad as the Vanilla Ice of folk music, and the princess's fungus father thing straight out of a David Cronenberg movie... yikes.

Re: Super Mario Bros.
I know there are a lot bad movies based on video games but this one might actually be the worst of the bunch.

Re: Super Mario Bros.
Bad idea making it live-action, Mario is king, but this film embarrasses him and every other character of its unique fantasy world; however, I would love to see an original animated movie

Re: Super Mario Bros.
Even at age 6, I thought this was terrible. I do have to give them credit for not only being completely unfaithful to the source material, they managed to not even doing anything right, even by accident. Quite an ugly film too. The vibrant world of Mario reduced to a bad Bladerunner knock off puts the film in a depressing mood. F
