Re: Kapringen [A Hijacking]
When Somalian pirates invade a Danish cargo ship in the Indian Ocean, an extended and torturous series of hesitant negotiations and physical and mental abuses begins in this smart, taut, and at times disturbing international production. Certain personalities come into sharper focus, including a CEO (Soren Malling) whose crisp and powerful existence slowly splinters as the situation spirals out of control, but the film tends to shy from individual centric sentimentality in favor of clear eyed consideration of the facts of the nightmare situation, from the political impact in the boardroom to the sailors' descent into virtual insanity as days of deprivation and fear turn to months. It is riveting.
