Quote:
Heartbreak Ridge is a 1986 American war film, produced, directed by, and starring Clint Eastwood. The story involves the actions of a small group of Marines during the 1983 U.S. invasion of Grenada. A portion of the movie was filmed on the island itself. Mario Van Peebles, Marsha Mason, and Everett McGill appear in supporting roles.

The title comes from the Battle of Heartbreak Ridge in the Korean War. The character played by Eastwood was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions there.

The film has the distinction of being the 1000th film to be released in Dolby Stereo.

Surprisingly fun film. It's pretty easy to see where Eastwood's Gran Torrino character came from when you watch this one. He's angry, grumpy and hilarious like in that film, but he still has the physical presence as well making it one awesome Eastwood character. The old vs. new as far as training goes is interesting and I enjoyed the whole film. The random singing and Van Peebles' character is pretty awful at times, and historically it's all over the place, but overall I'd say I enjoyed this drill instructing movie then even Full Metal Jacket (Only because the 2nd half of the film is a borefest)

B+

Yes, it's a good film. I will watch it again, though, as I've forgotten a lot of it.
