 Re: Snitch
I guess Nikki Finke is right (although she got a lot of stick for it). It's Oscar weekend, and as of now (Sunday), there are no reviews for the weekend's openers, which is odd as usually trixster or David has at least seen them. There's really no point releasing movies on Oscar weekend.

 Re: Snitch
I missed the press screening for this one and there wasn't one for Dark Skies.

SNITCH
I enjoyed this film. I felt it had a quality about it that makes it rise above alot of generic drug film pictures. The actors used performed well such as Benjamin Bratt, Barry Pepper, Susan Sarandon and the black character actor. I liked the story and plot. This is one of the Rocks better roles that he's done. It's a mix of mostly drama with slight action. He's very believable.

 Re: Snitch
I wasn't planning on seeing this anytime soon, but the good buzz piqued my interest quite a bit. I'm surprised to say that I actually did like it. It's slow and you probably could have shaved off a good 20 minutes, but I still found it pretty engaging throughout.
Rock gave a good performance, but I was mostly impressed with the guy from The Walking Dead and Michael Kenneth Williams from The Wire. Actually, I think the entire supporting cast was really solid here and it's interesting seeing The Rock in a role like this.
Despite him being such a HUGE guy, I was still able to buy him as a everyday man for the most part. He has just enough range and repoir with the rest of the cast to pull it off. I just hope to see him in more serious and ambitious roles in the future.

Snitch
One of the better Dwayne Johnson movies. It's in his better half. I thought it was good, and I loved the change of pace from his usual fare. He wasn't the iron man that he normally is, and he was vulnerable too.
The story was a little unbelieveable, even if it was based on true events - I just can't see the federal prosecution letting people off if people drug run for cartels and grass on them after doing so. His son, Jason, was not worth it, though. He was a punk.
The supporting cast was very good, and this movie just goes to show that Johnson can cut it as a mature thriller actor, instead of the absolute garbage that he usually prioritises his schedule for (Fast & Furious 6, Fast Five, Scorpion King, G.I. Joe: Retaliation), and it doesn't look to be getting better when he stars as Hercules.
But anyway, this was a competent, and at times slow, thriller. No where near as good as Walking Tall or The Rundown.

 Re: Snitch
Walking Tall is probably the best movie The Rock has done in his acting career. Unless I'm forgetting something.

 Re: Snitch
The Rundown is his best for me, but I also love Walking Tall.

I prefer The Rundown as well, but Walking Tall is pretty badass too.

 Re: Snitch
Snitch is a solid entry in both Dwayne Johnson and Waugh's filmography. Johnson is likable in the lead and it's got a respectable supporting cast too. The dramatic undertones didn't work so well, while it seems to attempt realism it actually feels barred from it to me. But it's entertaining nonetheless, the action is cool, Waugh's directorial style remain slick and I stayed interested all the way through. While it does lack some depth and thoroughness it makes up for it with an engaging politics-crime-undercover-drugs story.
