In recent years, Britain has produced several low-budget horror gems by fresh-faced directors, including Dog Soldiers, Eden Lake, and Shaun of the Dead. Alas, Storage 24 is not in this tradition. Instead, it is England's answer to Skyline, but worse. A dud as tedious as its title, the film pits a group of grating, navel-gazing South Londoners against a creature which resolves one of pop culture's greatest feuds by resembling (read: stealing from) both the Alien and the Predator. The first 50 minutes are pure torture as the mediocre cast acts out a cut-rate soap opera in a failed bid to develop the characters and establish rooting interest. Once the chasing and violence erupts during the last half hour, moments of genuine excitement and suspense are by and large nonexistent, but the enterprise becomes a tad easier to endure. The ending, intended as a final sting, is undermined by bargain-bin CGI.
