It's a pretty awful movie, but so innocent that it's kind of likeable. The only thing wrong with the movie is ego, I suppose. Both stars thought that they could star in any genre and it would succeed (this is more for Sly than Dolly). We are all guilty of that sometimes in our life. He bounced back, though, and that's the main thing.

Cringeworthy movie, though.

I found it not bad at all, it's got a nice 80's vibe and I like the general musicalness of it. But it is an odd film, at times it's cringeworthy, instead of funny it's often just plain silly. Stallone shows some decent comedy chops actually, but it's not a very well written script, just average and cliched stuff. Dolly Parton is OK, but the only one that really flourishes in this film is Ron Leibman, he's great and fits his role the best. Stallone certainly could have spend his prime better than doing this film, it's not a disaster, it just doesn't really work.
